What's wrong with the ZT 0560?

Someone say something bad about 'em? It wasn't the,"It's too biiiigg and heeaavvyyy..." waaaaaah thing was it?

As far as I know the 560/561 is going to turn out to be one of the best knives ZT ever produced.

It is a fairly large folder, fits fine in most pockets though and carries better than many. The Elmax steel in the blade is outstanding at holding an edge and toughness so no problems there either. So pretty much bull on the youtube vidiots. Ignore them and if you like it get one and be reassured that it will be a fantastic knife for you.

Mine has been carried and used a lot. No problems at all.

No problems with my 0561. Youtube reviews are shoddy at best.

As with any product, it's best not to buy into the hype (positive or negative) until you've actually tried it yourself.

I've owned 2 0561s in my lifetime and they were superb, heavy duty folders that happened to carry extremely well.

The thing I've learned about knives is that you can never be 100% certain on what everyone else says, cause it can always just be a case of people jumping the bandwagon. I have a 560, it's currently in for maintenance at ZT because I have an older model and the titanium frame is sticking quite a bit, so ZT agreed to outfit it with an updated frame that includes the steel lockbar insert. Once I get it back, it's going right back in my pocket. I love this knife, it looks great, it feels great, it cuts well and holds an edge exceedingly well.

Some concerns with it before involved the early models having a bad lockbar cutout, some people got some lemons and the frame lock was bad in some way, I think it was lock rock? I can't remember off the top of my head, but ZT fixed it with an updated frame that fixed the issue with that. Another thing I heard, again with the earlier models is that ZT's Elmax wasn't heat treated properly and it's hardness wasn't up to typical Elmax standards, resulting in a loss in edge retention for some. Again, this improved in time, my 0770 is in Elmax and it holds an edge just as well as my 0560 does.

When it comes down to it, it's a knife you have to hold and feel to be sure of whether you'll like it or not. Some people don't like how floppy the action is, the blade has a tendancy to fall on it's own when you disengage the lock, but if you crank the pivot down a little bit, it will stay in place when you unlock it and it will still retain it's smoothness with the kvt ball bearings. I can flip mine with the flipper, or open it with the bladestop/thumbstuds, open and close it with my left or right hand, and it's just all-around fantastic in my eyes. It's not for everyone, but if you like large, heavy, overbuilt knives, the 0560 is one you shouldn't pass on.

I see on U tube people saying it's to big and blade steel is questionable?

Just because "people" on YouTube say things doesn't always make them true. It's always best to find out these things by reading rather than watching. Rumors fly fast online.

I'll tell you what's wrong with it. Like every knife, it's not for everyone. Any knife is a personal preference as to why you either like or dislike it.
That's all.

You can find lemons from any maker, even customs or $400-500 production knives. ZT's warranty is generous though.

It's too big... At least that's my opinion.

As a knife noob, I found myself with my first proper knife in the form of the Kershaw Cryo. Not even two weeks later I decided that I needed an upgrade to the China made knife and found the 560 online at a decent price. They looked similar in pictures but much to my surprise, the thing is just huge!... It's long, and the blade is billboard wide. Needless to say, I have no use for a knife of this size.

This of course is no fault to the ZT0560, the fault is my own for purchasing a knife that does not fit my needs.

With almost nowhere for people to actually see knives in person before purchase I think many have fallen in the same "trap" as I did.
And I'm willing to bet that most that have fallen are noobs like myself.

I still have the knife in brand new condition since I never carry it, but I still can't seem to bring myself to sell it since I still feel it is a beautiful, well made knife. Hopefully one day I will get over how huge it feels to me and I will carry it with pride.

Why does the zt 0560 get so much bad reviews?

The ZT0560 is a great knife! It's my current work knife, which brings it all kinds of task. Cutting various types of industrial hoses, belts, slings, strapping, banding, you name it! It's big, but very ergonomic in your hand. It rides in my front right pocket all day long, pretty much unnoticed. The blade has held up well, and takes a great edge.

That's well written. My guess is if you hang on to it you'll be glad you did someday...
