Flexxx, you are my new best friend, I bought a brand new PM27 hobby lathe last year and am loving it, not that good with it yet but I'm getting there, oh I also have a mill to compliment the lathe...

Sweet....
If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask and remember its always good to take off little amounts at a time because once the tolerance is gone
the piece is garbage.
This is what my instructor used to say years ago, he also said a machinist does not make mistakes....

ooh another RAT pack job thread :)

Im a maintenance/service tech at a newspaper printing firm, lots of different techniques and the shift is great too :)

And no i wont fix your broken devices ;)

I've been workin' since I was 15, I've done everything from workin' at Mc Donald's, (lasted 2 weeks) workin' on an assembly line, (lasted 3 days on the line till they asked me what I thought about joinin' the Maintenance Dept., these guys sat around smokin' cigarettes and drinkin' coffee till somethin' broke).

I started workin' maintenance as a Mechanic at 17, my Old Man had me tearin down and rebuildin' engines by 7, I went to school to be a plumber, did my apprenticeship in 1 1/2 years, became a Pipe Fitter Millwright and went to school at night to get my Black Seal Boiler Operators license and eventually my Stationary Engineers License, after a while I went back to school to become a Machinist while workin' as a Plumber on the side and doin' construction, (new apartments and residential, leading to Commercial/Industrial Pipe fitting)

Worked in my Mother's Salvage Yard since I was 20 drivin' the heavy equipment and flatbeds/tow trucks, includin' buyin' cars at the auction for resale later.

Also while doin' all this I was buildin' my home and workin' for a Contractor friend doin' everything from foundations and sand mounds to roughin' out the plumbin' heatin' and electric for new construction includin' doin' curbs, layin' ashphalt for driveways and roads.

Later I got involved with runnin' different Maintenance shops in the Electronics industry, leading to a job , first buildin' Robotic Wet Benches for the semiconductor industry to finally teachin' people how to build, install and trouble shoot all the systems we made.

All three jobs required Hazmat, Fire and EMT certifications along with becomin' a First Aid and CPR Instructor, I later went to school to learn how to design teachin' courses for Train The Trainer Classes.

Worked as a high speed packagin' mechanic assembler for a while, (if ya drink anything that comes in a carton and has a screw top on the carton, I probably had somethin' to do with the buildin of the machine, also under arm deodorant dispensers, the kind ya screw up from the bottom and also the tube of toothpaste that has the 2/3 different color paste inside, probably worked on that too.

Next to last job was at a foundry where they made Titanium prosthetic hip and knee joints along with the turbine blades for the military jet bein' built at the time.

My last job was workin' for the local County Government as a Facilities Mechanic responsible for all the county buildings and properties, including the Courthouse, County Prison and Juvenile Detention, County Nursing Home and all the County Parks and buildings.

Been disabled for the last couple of years, hopin' to get back to work to some degree in the near future.

Oh yea I did squeeze OJ and sell Hot Dogs for a livin' too.

Now I just consult a lot and give advice.

So the short answer if ya read this far is I'm currently a Renaissance Man

Self-employed (which is my lame way of saying "unemployed"), but very actively looking for a new full-time job.

It's rough out there. :o

In the meantime I hang cabinets with my brother-in-law.
