What's your EDC light?

I'm just curious as to what lumen-launcher you guys carry and why you carry it. I carry a Fenix PD31 because I like the design and the versatile settings.

I've EDC'd this ZL SC51 for well over a year and it's the perfect light for me. I've tried other lights but nothing has been able to push this one out of my pocket. It's a tough little light too, it was run over by my friend's SUV and only suffered minor anodizing nicks.

4 Sevens Preon 1, running ultrafire TR10440 rechargables @ around 200 lumens. I clip it in my wallet, love the size. I use it a lot for work, but just generally comes in handy.

just lost mine playing in the yard with my son, had to switch to the fenix LD15, I like it a lot but still prefer a clicky I think.

PD32. Same reasons. Good quality, freaking bright, and I like being able to change light output on the fly. I looked at the Quarks, but I like being able to use the lowest setting, one of the mid settings and the turbo level without going through 30 seconds of complicated programming. I just push a button twice or three times and bam, correct light.

Plus, I'm running 18650 rechargeables. Love not having to buy batteries all the time. I'm a paramedic and I use it all the time. Also, my daughters end up stealing it occasionally and then leaving it on. It's nice to be able to not worry about the expensive batteries.

$90 with the light, two batteries and charger off the 'bay. Awesome deal.

Surefire U2 Porcupine. Can't get CCW in my state and sometimes I cannot avoid going into some questionable locations. The combination of blinding light and 5 stainless steel teeth are a formidable tool. Plus, the adjustable output is a great feature.

Those are some good choices, everyone. I still need to get a rechargeable battery and a charger. They sound like they save a fortune in the long run.

I have a fenix pd32, and its been one of my favorite lights.

Got a couple of cheap soshine batteries for it, and a no name charger off the internet.

The charger works fine. Not sure if I would leave it unsupervised, though. I was looking at a Pila charger, but since I'm a knife junkie, not a light junkie, I think I'll be fine.

On the other hand, I'm starting to eye the Jetbeam Raptor...

I also have a Fenix PD32 but it isn't for EDC. I use it more for when I travel and so forth.

My EDC used to be a Fenix P1 running a single CR123 battery. It is an older light with the Luxeon LED and works fine but newer lights with CREE LED's will outperform it. I'm now EDC'ing a Fenix LD01 running a single AAA battery. It is very small and has very good light output, especially considering its size. I recently bought a Fenix E05 for my daughter. It is even smaller than the LD01 and cheaper but still has good light output.

I have a 4sevens mini quark123 R5 edition. I attached it to one of those cheap retractable key chain deals. I just clip it to my belt. Its there when I need it and if I drop it. It just zip back into place. A pizza delivery mans best friend. You would be shocked at how many people don't leave any lights on. That and my folder get used a ton at work.

I've got a bunch of nicer flashlights.

But, i usually carry this cheapo Leatherman AAA model due to its size.

I've been meaning to pick up a better quality AAA light from 4sevens or Fenix, but just havent gotten around to it.

When I do carry a flashlight its either a Novatac 120P or a Jetbeam RRT-O Raptor. The latter has the focusing ring and the AA adaptor and takes rechargeables so its a very cool light. The Novatac is smaller though and has a better beam (no rings). My back up is a CountyComm Maratac AAA jobbie.

4Sevens AA Quark 2 Tactical. I use Eneloops XX rechargables as well. It’s got 8 modes and is programmable (Moon, Low, Medium, High, Turbo, Strobe, SOS and Beacon). You can use any 2 modes at once using the bezel to select between the two. It puts out 280 lumens on high and .3 lumens on moon which is my favourite for walking around in the dark since it doesn’t ruin your night vision. The battery can last for 15 days continual in moon mode. The best part is it takes AA so if my batteries die I can easily find replacements in a pinch. The glass lens is sapphire coated for scratch resistance and has reverse polarization to keep the lens from reflecting back on itself inside the head for more throw out the front.

Here’s a pic.

I also use the hell out of a Gerber Axle light. Its perfect for clipping on to a hat or backpack strap for hands free lighting. I think i have 4 or 5 of them in various bags and in my truck.

4Sevens Quark AA2. A little big but I just put it in my back pocket and have had no problems or discomfort.
