What's your EDU?

What is your Every Day User? Not talking about your edc, UNLESS it is your edu. Some folks, I'm one, carry both an edc and edu. I usually edc a ZT0500, today it is the ZT0300 that just arrived, but rarely have any use for it. I also edu a Boker Wharcom that does pretty much does all the work I need a knife to do. So why carry the other one? I carry the ZT because it is easy to carry for me, if the time ever comes that I do need to use it, I have it, and because it is a precision built tool that I like to have with me. I enjoy finely engineered items and especially so when it comes to knives. Now, as far as the Wharcom is concerned, this is one cutting machine! The blade shape, wharncliffe, is handy for about everything I do with a knife. The blade steel, AUS8, is not the latest supersteel but it does take a good using edge and is easy to resharpen.

So, how about it....................what's your EDU/EDC??

everything I carry is a USER.( I carry 4 daily ) From the PT CC to the Rinaldi matrix to the Erickson Custom Slippie to the Remington Slippie. I haven't gone a day that 2 of the 4 didn't get used.
The Remington is the one that gets loaned to people at work if someone asks for one to borrow.

for me there is only an EDC, and it is an EDC because I carry it every day and use it as the occasion requires. To me part of the beauty of a knife is how well it performs its intended task, so I cannot enjoy its full beauty if I do not use it.

Specifically what my EDC is tends to vary a bit, though right now I am frequently carrying my Monochrome or Mini-Grip when not at work. But I also find myself carrying a Buck 301 a fair amount of the time as well. At work I mostly carry a Buck Colleague. (2" blade length limit and in a 2" blade the Colleague is the best I've found in a 2".)

Benchmade 943, and Scibeer HAIII Farmer with scissors and pocket clip. The Wharcom will be added to the mix, when it gets here...

I carry/use a Emerson CQC 10, but occasionally also carry a Benchmade 6150 on the opposite side.

Right now I have been using a Gerber mini covert, but I have coming in the mail next week a Kershaw JYD and a Spyderco Native. I see a change coming in the future.

Wow! We're really coming along with the acronyms now!:D I think Cutter17 has something, in that I do, like him, carry multiple blades and rely primarily on one of them to do a majority of the daily "dirty work," so to speak. That would make my EDU, which is also my EDCFSDSTNA (every day carry for self defense should the need arise) by the way, a waved Endura 4. I know that most people frown on actually using ones EDCFSDSTNA for mundane tasks, but I regularly make use of my EDCFSDSTNASK (every day carry for self defense should the need arise sharp keeper), the Spyderco Sharpmaker.

The Delica is a daily user, the Ti-Lite is a daily carry (or what 3G has called the EDCFSDSTNA :D). I have never cut anything with the Ti-Lite (except arm hair to test for sharpness).

Normal daily jeans carry - Swamp Rat Rat Trap

When I know going in that abusive use is on the agenda -
my beater Spyderco Native

Dress-up wear - Chris Reeve Mnandi

Occasional casual carry because my daughter gave it to me for my birthday last year and it's just a neat, underated little knife - Al Mar Nomad

My EDU is a Spyderco BG-42 Carbon Fiber Military, until it dies or I find something better. (Not likely)

edu and edc is my benchmade 710 with bk coating (D2 blade). It cuts like a knife should and serves me well. I love knives but i dont have a need to buy anymore for now=)--I havent bought a new knife for over a year now. I am only going to buy more if the previous is broken.

I carry allot of different types of knives everyday but I think the one that I "use" with the most abandon (meaning I don't worry about damaging it) is my Victorinox Soldier, it's a tank.

And I thought I was a little off because I frequently carry two! Now I reckon I can say that I only carry two.

I have never quite been fond of carrying the same knives every day. Still, my primary knife is generally always a variety of Cold Steel Voyager variety. Sometimes it's a Gunsite with a 5-inch blade; other times it's a plain edged Voyager 5-inch. My secondary knives tend to be the Cold Steel Recon 1 or the Spyderco Native. Oh, and occasionally I carry (and use) a small Cold Steel Super Edge. That's a tiny fixed blade knife that's serrated and made from a cheap, thin steel. It rips open packages and boxes in short order without scaring people.

If I could only carry and use one knife, I'm very attached to the Voyager 5-inch plain. It's light, strong, keeps a good edge and a good blade design. Alas, because of that blade design, which gives the optical illusion that it's longer than it is, it's not people friendly.

Along with my EDC, I usually carry my 556 Mini Griptilian:

The blade's already well-scratched (hard to tell from the photo), the butt end has been used as a glass breaker, and it's been washed with dishwashing soap many, many times after being covered in oil, grime, all kinds of gunk.

I'm not afraid to beat the heck out of it, and it saves my nicer EDC's from getting scratched up just yet :D

My SAK Stayglow Rambler (same as Classic but with a bottle opener/phillips/wire stripper) also sees a TON of use. That's one knife I'm not afraid to use as a screwdriver!

My work EDU is a benchmade mini-rukus and a delica4 wave, the mini-rukus does most of the work and the delica is for the sheeple. My after work EDC is a S90V millie and the delica but I use the delica for most of the EDU with this pair.
