What's your EDU?

My main USER is a S&W Extreme Ops. It takes tons of abuse and bounces right back. Maybe the best cheap knife I have ever owned. I have done everything with it that I would use a fixed blade for. I also carry a SAK every day, usually the Explorer. I always carry a shirt pocket snap blade box cutter and a Vic Classic. My carry but seldom use is my Kershaw blackout. I carry it for dress up wear.

Wow! We're really coming along with the acronyms now!:D I think Cutter17 has something, in that I do, like him, carry multiple blades and rely primarily on one of them to do a majority of the daily "dirty work," so to speak. That would make my EDU, which is also my EDCFSDSTNA (every day carry for self defense should the need arise) by the way, a waved Endura 4. I know that most people frown on actually using ones EDCFSDSTNA for mundane tasks, but I regularly make use of my EDCFSDSTNASK (every day carry for self defense should the need arise sharp keeper), the Spyderco Sharpmaker.

Regards,
3G

I love it! I also have an EDU "dirty" knive, and an EDCFSDSTNA which I keep super sharp and clean, but I also use that for food - apples, cheese, whatever. The EDU which I EDC (heh) is always a Swiss Spirit multitool, and that thing gets a lot of work. I carried a Leatherman Wave for years, then went to a Ti Surge, but the Swiss Spirit carries a lot smaller than the Surge and it has some unique tools I really like. As to the EDCFSDSTNA (man, that's the greatest acronym ever) I tend to carry my newest one - right now it's a Kershaw Junkyard dog II with CPMD2, but I really love my BM Skirmish (one of the very best factory SDSTNA knives, in my opinion) and my Spyderco Manix and the cocobolo Lone Wolf T2 (and all the others). Just tonight, actually, I was going through my collection and I thought, why don't I just carry a different EDCFSDSTNA every day? That way I can get the most out of the collection instead of leaving all the older knifes in the drawer, lonely and unused... :)

wow, I thought I was the only one thinking that way, but you guys already had the proper acronyms at hand... my EDCFSDSTNA is always one of my Spyderco Militaries, usually a CF/BG-42 model, as I have 2 of those
my EDU rotates according to my needs or mere preferences; at the time being it is a Benchmade 950 Rift

I always edc/edu my Benchmade 530 and Case m.o.p. center-swell jack. The 530 sees all of the boxes and blister packaging, and the Case takes care of most of my lunch-time food prep as well as the finer little tasks.

Recently I acquired and started edu-ing the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman and it's been doing surprisingly well. Works great in the kitchen, though a thinner blade would be better for that. I plan on using it as my btcoiadc (beat the crap out of it and don't care) knife. Once you get used to the lock it's a great knife for dirt cheap. :D

I often carry a Soldier for three reasons:

1. Preserving the blade and sharpness of my main EDC folder.
2. Using it in a sheeple environment, and lending it when necessary.
3. Using the extra functions it provides.

Most of the time, the Soldier's blade is quite enough for the tasks at hand. Due to the use and it's steel, edge retention and durability isn't great, but it is very quick to resharpen.

At home, my beater is a fully serrated Delica 4.

Generally, my EDU is my gray XM-18, but since it and my other 3 incher are with Rick, I have been changing knives. Mostly because I have been going to places where I have to carry a knife with a 2 1/2 blade or less. But, when I am not carrying a small knife, I am EDUing my DDR Trigger Express. I also always have my Pocket Hippo with me, but I recently sent it to Gene to have him make me a leather neck sheath, so I can wear it under my scrubs.
When I go to the beach, cove or ponds near by, I will change my knife to my "beach" knife; one that will not rust.

Like I said in an earlier thread, the Firebyrd is probably the most used of all my knives(best $14 I ever spent).I also carry a leatherman super-tool(old, late 80's-early 90's) that gets used a lot.
I use almost every knife I have.Today I'm carrying a Spyderco fully serrated Native,black S30V blade.Yesterday it was a BM 635.Day before that,an Al Mar Ultralight Eagle...and so on...

I only carry that which I intend to use. What my uses are solely determine what goes into my pocket. What performs the best stays, what doesn't gets traded or sold.

For months that was a Spyderco UKPK. Now I rotate between the UKPK, Military and Paramilitary. The Military is mainly there because I want to test out BG42, but sometimes the extra blade length is appreciated.

I don't get anything out of carrying around a knife and doing nothing with it but maybe holding it and admiring it. There are many other things I'd pick before a knife to hold and admire.

Hello All,

New to site. Lots of info here. EDC is BM 520SBK right now. I'm waiting on my Al Mar SERE 2000 D/A to arrive. I may change then.

Alot of people I have talked to over the years have EDC'd some really nice customs , yet many you ask how they cut and they tell you " I don't use that one to cut , I use this one " and pull another knife from their pocket. Akin to safe queens , these are called "pocket queens".

Heck I had one friend who EDC'd a custom for 2 years and NEVER cut anything with it.
Carrying it for the wow factor and not to use is just dead weight that I won't carry.

Long live the EDU's !

I am a little more comfortable roughing up my Leatherman Wave than I am my other knives, but I'm trying to work past that disorder.

my EDC is my EDU
usually it's a BM RSK Mk1

gotta love that CPM-S30V

otherwise it's one of the kershaws i have.

Pimpnugget, did I give you permission to post an inexpensive knife that I like the design of and will probably buy?

Darn you.

My EDU is whatever I'm carrying that day. That said, if I'm going fishing or to a cookout, I'm not going to carry my Al Mar or my sentimental Case to use to kill fish or cut steak. There, I will take a Mora or a Byrd or Benchmade Red or something. But, I can't plan for everything.

Cool thread........
My EDU AND EDC is a Swisschamp or whatever SAK I've one me that day.

Wowee! Lots of info here. Come on and post about those EDU's. John T. I like that term "Pocket Queen"

TDC
This days carry
or
Tomorrows day carry

I dont have a Every Day Carry, I change my knives often.

I carry a Rough Rider small 3-blade whittler. I use it at least once a day, more like 4-5 times I reckon. Stainless blades are easy to sharpen, jigged bone handles. Longest blade is maybe 2".

Small, doesn't scare anybody and it cost $7 delivered. Looks and performs like one costing 10X more, and I'm not worried about losing or breaking it. Lets me carry all manner of other knives (Spydie Yojimbo & Civilian) unnoticed.
