When I was a kid there were Howard Johnson's Ice Cream places advertizing "28 flavours" .They didn't always have all 28 but a good assortment always.
My favorite was Black Raspberry !!

When I was young it seemed that all of the old folks I knew preferred Vanilla, and I always wondered why anyone would choose Vanilla when Chocolate was available. Now I know why.
As you age tastes change. Now at age 67 I prefer Vanilla over all others.

blue bell fudge brownie nut. but they haven't produced any in 3 or 4 years, but I check the freezer whenever I 'm at the store-just hoping.
I've even gone to their website looking to suggest that they bring it out again but no joy.

Mint chocolate, the best Mint chip I ever had was some fancy organic stuff from VT, but the ice cream was white!! and not the traditional green (almost ruined it for me)
after mint chip it's a tie between Stewart's (a regional convenience store) Peanut Butter pandemonium or Ben and Jerry's Half baked

Jefferies -- Walnut & Carmel {pure Cream and select Walnuts makes this the best} $$$$$ buy all you want ~~~
and you can literally gain 50#'s in 3 Months -- ask me how I know.!* lol

This one is blue moon, red pop, and lemon ice.

Home made snowcreme. Beyond that, vanilla. I can add whatever I want to make it special each time. I can add cherries, chocolate (syrup or magic shell), peaches or whatever I can dream up that strikes my fancy. Fruits, jellies, syrups, nuts whatever. I don't eat it often, but when I do... :)

Home made snowcreme.

A Starbuck's Vanilla Bean Frappuccino is very reminiscent of that. Try one. Its icy with lots of vanilla flavor that reminds you of when you were 8 years old and ate snow cream. Link.

As for ice cream, I'll jump on anything, but vanilla may be my favorite. Love a banana split. Would like even better to watch Kate Upton eat ice cream.

There is not a Starbucks in the vicinity of my bunker. Which may be a good thing. We have enough snow here every year or two for me to make a bowl of snowcreme and I keep pure vanilla on hand for that. Of course it isn't as good as the home churned ice creme my grandpa made back in the fifties. Or the snow creme mom made each winter back then either. But then to an old Codger, everything was better back then. At least that is the way I prefer to remember it. Mmmm. Grape Kool Aid in an annodized aluminum tumbler over ice made with well water. Trips at night to the little house-behind-the-house. Outhouses were like a box of chocolates. You never knew what you were going to find in there. :)

My mother sat on a wasp in an outhouse when she was a child sometime around the beginning of WWII. They were "dirt poor".

Okay. Back to the ice cream.

We weren't poor. We were rich. And when Dad could afford to, he enclosed a part of the back porch and we had indoor plumbing. He burnt down the outhouse for some reason. It might have been right after my blue Easter duckling fell in the hole and got rescued by Pywackett the cat. Or maybe it wasn't exactly a rescue in hindsight. Did I mention I like ice cream? :p

I can't really say I dislike any of the ones mentioned so far. Top 3 for me in no particular order are: Chocolate/Mint combo ice cream, Oreo/Cookie Dough, Strawberry.
