I can't really say I dislike any of the ones mentioned so far. Top 3 for me in no particular order are: Chocolate/Mint combo ice cream, Oreo/Cookie Dough, Strawberry.

That's what I'm thinking, and am trying to think of an ice cream flavor I don't like.
IMHO The brand/maker of the ice cream, can make or break any flavor you like.

Currently a house brand, Safeway Select Java Chip. Coffee ice cream with dark chocolate chips.

I've noticed one thing, the containers of ice cream sold now are much less dense than the ones sold years ago. One of my pet peeves with ice cream is when it starts melting immediately, almost as if it cannot get cold enough despite being in the freezer.

This is very true... I've noticed it too. Soft ice cream. Not a fan.

Buy cheesecakes. Doesn't matter if they thaw on the way home.

In 1983 I worked for a electrical contractor at a ice cream factory that made Frusen Gladje ice cream ( Swedish for " Frozen Delight " )
It was by far the best ice cream that I ever tasted. They made about 8 flavors, I think my favorite was called Butter Pecan.
It might have had a fancier name, but I can't remember spending too much time reading the container. It was only sold by the pint
and cost about $3.00 . The ingredients were the very best of the best, bar none.
One of the perks working there was, they would fill a freezer just for the workers to eat while they were on break or lunch.
My wife packed my lunch the first 2 days, the second day I returned home and told her it wasn't necessary to pack my lunch.
In 1985 the company was bought by a larger corporation and Frusen Gladje wasn't part of the deal and it disappeared.
If any one remembers Frusen Gladje, I would like to hear their thoughts. The ice cream was sold largely in New York State and California.

Spumoni. Specifically, a brand that comes from a western suburb of chicago called Lezza. It is sold in a standard pint.

My favorite generic flavor is mint chocolate chip. Almost any brand seems to be good. My favorite name brand flavor is Cherries Garcia by Ben & Jerry.

My Mom asked me the other day what my favorite was and I told her "hard Maple Walnut". She told me that was my grandmothers favorite. She passed away when I was only 10 months old. It must have rubbed off on me because I'm sure she must have given me some when she would watch me during the days when my Mom went to work. Funny that you don't see it around too often anymore, more of an older time flavor.

Nowa days its peach or cinnamon swirl when I go out, and it has to be hard ice cream or homemade if not I will just settle for a rootbeer float.

Favorite regular ice cream flavor: black walnut
Favorite "gourmet": stracciatella (Italian...kinda like chocolate chip, but soooo much better)
Most consumed: Blue Bell Natural Vanilla Bean (with half a can of A&W root beer in float form)

I'm not sure if you can get Hood brand ice cream out west (they used to be a regional brand but were recently bought out and sold nationally), but they are one of the few 'average priced' brands that still freeze rock solid.
