Just like the title says... what's your favorite .22LR ammo? And why? Accuracy, velocity, ballistics?

Federal, in bulk from Walmart, because its the cheapest I can find that is still dependable. Left side of pic, above the Busses. In the range of $20 per 550, last time I checked. I'm talking plinking and SHTF ammo here, where you go through hundreds of rounds. Target or varmit guys may like something more upscale.

I like Eley Subsonic for rabbit & pheasant shooting

For target use/plinking I like Eley Practice (not a catalogued round)

Winchester Subsonic is ok too - had terrible results with CCI Subsonic though....

I shot the Chevy Truck Sportsman's Team Challenge for 4 years, and my two team mates and I had pretty much identical equipment..... 10-22's with fluted Clark barrels, trigger job, bolt work, bedded, scope mounted to barrel, and SW M41's.... we tried a variety of manufacturers from Thunderbolt to Federal Gold Match and all six guns preferred different ammo... my M41 liked Winchester Super X, so I adjusted the tuner on my 10-22 for it (15/16 inch at 100y..10shots) another 10-22 shot similar groups with Thunderbolt but M41 preferred GreenTag.... across the board I like CCI MiniMag as much for the container as anything....

Ahhh, cheap stuff. Why? Because I can shoot all I want..and do.

I have a lot of Federal Bulk pack bought over the years..and my last 10K/case order of WW Dynapoints will be finished up by my grand kids 20 years from now.

No longer hunt with a .22LR but when I did CCI's Velocitor was a favorite. I shoot Wolf Target Match..still working on my first 1K order..from time to time.

Just an old trigger puller I am now a paper punching plinker who MUST have a scope on all his rifles and some pistols, LOL.

Lot of good .22LR ammunition out there..try as many varieties as you want and see what you enjoy shooting most but don't overlook the bulks stuff..and consider the type of shooting you will do most. I've never weighed a .22LR bullet in my life to date and don't intend to however some very serious competitors won't head to the range without doing so and are very serious about buying the same lot numbers when they land on what really works for the.

As serious as I get is a wind flag when shooting at 100 yards.

Have fun.

I like .22lr because it is a very inexpensive round that allows you to plink for a couple of pennies a round. Because of that I stick with the bulk packs, and Federal bulk has worked the best for me.

remington "golden" bullet bulk packs for me. cheap and reliable and consistent. federal is fine too.

CCI stingers for shooting stuff other than paper targets.

the previous posters are right though, rifles "like" different rounds more or less.

CCI mini-mags are good too.

What's the deal with CCI stingers, as compared to your average .22LR cartridge... The case is longer, so is the cartridge longer overall? Or is the bullet shorter to compensate? Think they will work in my semi-auto .22 rifle?

I like the cheap 550 boxes, well, because they are the most cost efficient for target shooting.

I like the CCI mini-mags, because they are fast, hard-hitting, and accurate.

mini mags + stingers...I can't believe how hard it is to find CCI stuff anymore.
All the 22 conversion kits probably...dunno...

anyway...why CCI? those two work well in my Advantage Arms Glock conversion kit.
and, of course they work in everything else I have that's 22LR
I get most of my CCI's at walmart or academy when I'm passing thru.

are CCI stingers longer? i dont think so. i should go look.

i have CCI stingers loaded in a ruger 10/22 rotary magazine right now. normal 22LR.

it fits in my standard 10/22 just fine.

The case is longer but they shoot a lighter bullet (32gr) than standard 22lr. The Overall length is the same.

For run of the mill plinking when great accuracy doesn't matter....Federal 550 bulk.

Now when I break out the tricked out 10-22? Federal Automatch. I get unbelievable groups at 50 yards with Automatch.

Regards.

Eley Super Match.

But there's a special place in my heart for the Aguila loads with the 60gr bullet. It may not be fast, but it kills feral cats, small dogs, varmints, and crows like it was designed to.

PMC Moderators.

Why? Because they are the quietest ammo I've ever used, with the exception of CCI CBs. I think my air rifle might be louder.

They are also very accurate, and have a nice functional hollow point.

I've got almost a full case of it tucked away. They don't make it anymore, but Aguila Subsonics are almost identical.

My 10-22 seemed to like Winchester Super-X 'back in the day' so I bought several cases - then later inherited something like 6k rnds of Remington yellow jacket. The Remington is finally gone as of last month, so I'm back to the Super-X again...
