What's your Favorite Benchmade, and Why?

well, i have to revise my favs, i got the 710 prototype marked january 1998, NIB, but have to wait until fathers day for it- i wont ever carry it, i have a std 710, but neat to have - the handle looks diff from the std G10 model, doesnt have the slanted cuts in the handle, doesnt look like G10 to me, maybe CF??

the 2nd tac knife i ever bought was a BM stryker proto, w/CF handles and have always regretted trading it, even though i got a crawford ti kasper in exchange (had to throw in a MT mini socom and $$ too but,,,,,)

wanna go by elishiwitz's shop in newe braunfulls, about an hour from were i live

imho its hard to beat ANY of the AFCK knives, they are pretty darned nice, axis/or not - personnally i prefer the axis, but honestly i like my liner lock AFCK a helluva lot too

710 is also a GREAT knife imho, people often compare to CRK seb, and imho it does stack up well w/the seb, at 1/3 the price!!

the brend combat talon is good also, along w/the boguzewski spike, and the leopard mods too

BM is a heckuva good brand imho, ya cant go wrong w/1 imho

My 975S has been in my right front pocket for years. Tough, sharp, and quite easy to sharpen on flat bench stone. It would get worn out in following some years, and I have 970S for the next decade.
Pinnacle is also good. Light weight, but quite tough also. Its recurved edge works much better than I thought.

But if I had to choose only one and throw all the rest, I'd take Elishewitz custom tanto 5" balisong of D2 steel. I wish BM revives its 5x balisongs series with or without titanium handles...

My faves are the 970BTS, the 705 (I hope to get another soon), and the 330. I can't wait to get a Bali trainer. I can't carry a bali, but I would love to learn how to flip. Looks like a great and LEGAL opportunity. Thanks BM!

At the moment mine would have to be the plain-edge 550 Griptilian. I've been carrying mine as an EDC for eight months, which is almost unheard of for me carrying a clip folder...usually at most a single clip folder will spend a few weeks as nonstop EDC before just going into the random "carry rotation."

I also love the 710 and have several others that are much classier, but at present the 550 just works for me. I would recommend anyone look at it or its brother the 551.

another 710 fan here . 705 is its smaller cousin, i have thought about getting one ,but I like 710's size, weight, feel in hand.
It is a no-nonsense design.

43DM

cuz I and 99 other ppl have them....hehe

 Benchmade AFCK This is the best balanced, fastest opening, most comfortable, extremely versatile, knife I've ever carried by them. It is hands down my choice if I could only carry 1 Benchmade.

970 SBT, and the 970S.

I own one of each.

I like this knife because of it's looks, as well as it's intended use as a defense piece. It also has served me well as a utility blade, but I have been carrying a 720SBT the last couple years, and am very happy with it as well.

I'd like to get my hands on a 750 sometime in the near future. It looks like it would be a great knife for the hard use category.

My "best of the bunch" picks are;

BM710 154CM plain edge
BM705 154CM "
BM720 ATS34 "
BM551 440C "
MT mini SOCOM " clip point

One of these is with me at all times, sometimes more than one.

Out of those, the one that I like the most is probably the 705. It will do most everything I need a knife for, is very compact and sheeple friendly and it is buttery smooth to open and close. I've gotten so good at flicking it open, it opens faster than some autos I've had.

I'm a fan of ATS-34/154CM.
I'm a fan of G-10.
I'm a fan of the Axis Lock.

Great blade shape. Excellent package. I'm going to get the 705 eventually.

Substitute M2 for the newer, harder-to-sharpen 154CM heat treat, and I agree. The smaller 705 is too fat... not proportioned as well, but is otherwise fine.

I like the AFCK for similar reasons, both the small and large. The one's I own have good solid liner locks, just wish the liner didn't protrude below the handle...flush would be easy enough to close and less likely to release. Overall a great older design.

The 710HS rulz, It has started to replace my Sebenza as an EDC primary folder, it is that good. The M2 steel is strong and tough, allowing a nice thin edge without worrying about dents or chips, and the recurve blade offers lots of cutting power but does not interfer with the usefulness of the blade

I have several, but the 705 is my favorite. A true pocket knife. Perfect size, feel and opens and closes like a dream.

My Fav. would be my first Benchmade....a 710 Plain Satin.
Always enough blade, full steel liners, recurve and of course the beauty of an Axis lock-up.
The 940 series is very close, it would be a nice set to collect especially those sexy red ones.

I would say that mine is the 910HS. It is a beautiful design from Elishewitz. I have an 806 as well and although it is probably technically superior, it does not look or feel as good to me as the 910. However, recently the object of my lust has been a BM 600. I would love to get my hands on one of those. Handle does not look like it has a whole lot to offer, but that brend grind blade is just a thing of beauty.
