Hi,
First, let Me Say that although My preferrence in Makers is Spyderco, I still love My Benchmades, and always give credit where credit is due, and own 26 BM Folders. I think the Finest BM Blade is the AFCK in Carbon Fiber, and love the thumb hole for obvious reasons.
My next choice for a BM EDC would be the ever so excellent 707 Sequel with a black coated Blade, and plain edge. I really feel that they hit a home run with this blade, even though it is smaller. I also have this blade in the partially serrated satin finish. I think they are the perfect size for a backup edc, and did I mention that My glove size is XL, but I still love them, and usually carry it with My Cally 3 ZDP.
Though it has been around for some time now, the Osborne 940 is also one of My favorites (destined to be a classic) of which I have three of, along with the Red 960 (Super Appealing to Me ). I also think that the 550 HG Griptillian is an excellent knife, as is the Mini Daja Voo, and 746 Mini Onslaught, and they still serve Me well. When the 755 MPR came out, I was so excited I had to have one, and it is a 1st production piece, but this is somewhat of a safe queen, along with a couple of 710's.
As I said, I Love Spyderco Blades (can You say Delica!), which is why I was attracted to the 13402 HD G-10 Pika. I also have the 14402 and 14412 Pika II Knives, which are also in My EDC rotation. I believe the blade steel is 9CR13, which I have to say I find excellent for ECD, and seems to have excellent edge retention, seems much better than 8CR13MOV.
Fineally I must Say that I am a knife addict, and I pretty much Love anything Sharp. Spyderco attracted Me, because they were somewhat cheaper, Yet the Quality is Superb. I have really grown fond of the Leaf shaped blades also, but as I stated previously I also Love My Benchmades, and NO, they are not for sale!!! LOL
Thanks,
Charlie
