Tell your favorite all around blade shape for any knife edc + tactical. Why do you like it for your tasks? Mine is spyderco's clip point seen on the military or para 2. I like the acute tip and it's slashing ability

I like the belly and ergos of the Spyderco Military. Kinda wish the spine had more of a leaf shape though.

MY favorite is the Skinner grind on my XM18.

That or the custom spanto grind Rick does. It's ground nice and thin on the belly section, and the tip is still thin but has a lot of meat backing it up for those more rugged tasks :).

The Spyderco leaf shape has served me quite well, but I'm a sucker for a nice spear point. Drop point blades aren't bad either.

If I had to pick a combination of function and visual appeal I'd go with the reverse tanto, specifically the grind on the BM 950, 810, 940

The leaf shape of spyderco knives is awesome, until I see a picture of it closed! It's probably not bad in real life, but until I get one(you guys are like "WHAT...NO SPYDERCOS!") I won't know. I really like spear and drop points though, in addition to nice thin knives.

I am with Viper. I have been on a modified wharncliffe kick. The American Kami Colubris has not left my side since I got it.

One more for Wharncliffes. A knife is always a tool to me, even in what most would call a "tactical" environment. The s**t will have really, really hit the fan if I'm in a situation where I'm forced to use a knife as a weapon. Now for straight out cutting things (MREs, 550 cord etc) a Wharny does great and is the easiest to sharpen in the field IMHO.

I've been using recurved blade lately and have been happy with them. Not a real pronounced recurve, but subtle. I think they are great for cutting things that tend to move. Rope, twine, small branches, etc. Generally, jobs that are done closer to the handle.

I've always been a fan of the wharncliffe and sheepsfoot blade shapes. I, like several here, also really dig the Para-Military 2's leaf/drop point blade. This is all from the perspective of general utility. I'm non-tactical to the core.

Lately? It's been the Wharncliff.

I don't need the belly of a Skinner or a Clip any more but the Wharncliff did most of my needs these days.
