What's your favorite blade shape?

My favorite blade shape (due to its versatility) is the Chris Reeve Insingo blade. On my small Sebenza it is one of the greatest slicers that I have ever owned.

I EDC two droppoints(Pohl Force Alpha 2, Izula 2) and a kbit(Emerson Fixed), so yeah my favorite blade shapes right there.

I have a few.
The Sebenza drop point and sheeps foot are some of my favorite. THe drop point on the Benchmade 556 and the Spuderco Manix are excellent as well.

If I had to choose only one blade profile, it's a drop-point with the tip being no more than one-third the distance below the spine (assuming the spine and edge are reasonably close to parallel). Newsflash... Bob Loveless didn't invent it :D

That basic design goes way back before the stone age, in every culture on the planet, and there's a very good reason for that. It just plain works for the most possible number of tasks you can think of, from peeling potatoes to gutting fish to skinning mammals large and small, to stabbing emperors, fighting wars and killing zombies .

Everything else is a specialist (and there's nothing wrong with that either... remember, you asked us to pick one).

Was tanto, now drop point, then tanto. The tanto is easier for me to sharpen; not to get shaving sharp, but sharp 'enough'.

The Razel (Razer/Chisel by Jon Graham) hands down the best utility blade I own. I'm a Carpenter/ wood worker having a knife with a chisel tip is very indispensable.
My hunting blade of choice is a good old Drop point
Kitchen Work I use a Santoku style made from Blue #2

If I had to pick just one style I would go with a Drop point but hey variety is the spice of life.

I get really geeky about different blade shapes...

I think a drop point or a nice clip ( with or without a swedge ) is my most preferred blade shape to use. I really like a Wharncliffe for slicing things on a hard backing, really detailed work, etc. A sheepsfoot is great for things like carving or cutting stuff with slack in it that flexes. Same with a spey blade, but I like the really long spey blades like on a Case Trapper where you have that very long straight run, and then the belly at the tip.

I think one of my favorite blade shapes ever is one like on the simple Buck 119. You see it quite a bit in various shapes and sizes ( the 110 is kind of similar ). The EDCs I like though typically have a drop point or a straight edge like a Wharncliffe, for ease for sharpening the tip. I tend to mess up and round off the tips of my clip points if I don't pay extra attention.

I really like the congress pattern though, since you get a ton of blade shapes in one knife... I have one that's like $13 from China, "Steel Warrior" or something, that has a nice clip, sheeps foot, pen blade and a coping blade.
