Whats your favorite cheap edc

(FK2) Farmers Knife 5 "
-$100. L6 steel differentially heat treated, horizontal, back of belt, lanyarded by long thin chain leash.

While the question is not new, i think it's legit, as there are new choices every year.
Before hitting the beach in summer I ask myself that question, as I would hate to loose a more expensive knife.

So this year it's back to the roots with Opinel No 6 in Carbone and a No 8 in stainless with Olive handle.
As testing is, the no6 with the carbon steel blade stays ahead. It's like in the commercials, even I can sharpen this to cut like... (insert you favorite quote).
The No 8 with the olive handle looks great and gives a nice odor with makes me dream of italian food.

Under $40:
Ontario Rat 1
Esee Zancudo

At $50:
I was able to land a like new (no box) Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Translucent Blue. Super light. Great blade size, shape, FFG. CTS-BD1 steel. Normally $70 but you can find them cheaper. Carry it all the time.

I'm intrigued by the Emerson/Kershaw CQC-6K. Might have to check that one out as a cheap beater.

Kershaw Asset. 16$, free shipping on Ebay. Assisted opens really strong. Love the Persian style blade. BUY ONE, you will not be disappointed. Just checked A....., 14.99!

The one I have is actually a POS very poor, gritty, opening and closing so hard that you stand a good chance of injuring yourself, I really wanted to like this knife but it just isn't well made. The design is good just not carried out well.

The one I have is really quite smooth. It is pretty hard to open and close, but I'm sure that was by design since there is no lock. And it did only cost $14.95.

Everything with me today sells under $40: Vic Explorer, Buck 376 (medium) stockman, and Boker CLB XS. In fact, the only knife OVER $40 seeing any pocket time with me, constistently, is my Stretch.

Esee avispa, Spyderco Tenacious, Svord Mini Peasant, Opinel #8, Ontario Rat 2, Kershaw Cryo. All sub $40 and great knives.

Posted earlier in this thread but wanted to add:

Opinel (planning to pick up a few)
Vic SAK (got my first, a black Alox Cadet, now I want a 58mm Classic)
Case (I have the Sodbuster Jr.)
New Emerson Kershaws (5K looks great)

Thats all for now

Favorite - SAK Spartan

Close seconds - Tenacious, Rat1, Opinel 7 or 8

Maybe - CRKT Heiho (it's cool)

Crkt m16 is my favorite edc when I know I will be getting wet, muddy or possibly searched by the police...lol

Pictured are my standard edc knives- the top one is the knife that started it all...Emerson/benchmade cqc7 spec war pictured between the knives is a neat belt buckle...(hmm) and bottom is the crkt m16-10s about 1/4 the weight of the benchmade but still very much usable in a variety of ways. Both knives have been extensively tested, used and occasionally in need of minor repair. I destroyed three of the crkt knives before carrying it as an edc. The benchmade has never been capable of destruction to self, but works well on everything it has touched.

The crkt is a smaller, thinner, lighter version. However, I have dressed small game with it, filleted fish, cut small wire and pried (yes pried) minor stuck parts. Look, if I am going to carry a tool, it has to preform even when faced with unexpected. The only way I was able to destroy the others were in subjecting them to extreme conditions, salt water for three days, clinched in a vice and bent back and forth and attempting to cut something far to large.
