Another option is the shredder. It is more slender than the praxis but has a long 3.75 inch blade.
If only this knife had a 3.5 inch blade, I d get one right away. I ve been looking at it.
If you are looking for a similar form factor the Praxis and Incite are both close to the Pintail in looks but both with larger blades. Unfortunately neither run S35VN as far as I am aware. If only this knife had a 3.5 inch blade, I d get one right away. I ve been looking at it.
I have the upgraded Ortis in Damascus and Carbon fiber. Mainly went that route for the scale upgrade and it was well worth it if you like the form factor of the knife but dont like the scale material. My riffle and Ortis arrived today. Pictured with the odium (bottom)![]()
If I were to get just one knife from these, it would probably be the Ortis. It’s medium sized and great. But I don’t really like the scales and I hate the feel of the knife. Also, first time, but it arrived pretty dull. I think a lot of people would love this knife, but it’s not for me. Mostly because I LOVE the odium for a small knife, and the Riffle feels better in the hand than the Ortis does for me. So, I’m keeping the Odium and the Riffle and sending back the Ortis. I bet a lot of people would do the opposite though and choose Ortis over the other two.
Also seconding the person who said Praxis. That is a fantastic camping style knife but it’s too big for me to want to EDC.
... Also, first time, but it arrived pretty dull...
I agree, every civivi I have ever gotten has been razor sharp out of the box except this one. This one was “literally wouldn’t cut paper” dull. Not “it was cutting roughly” but “it did not cut paper”. The detent was also really really stiff so I think I maybe got the 1 in a million bad QC civivi. Yes it was new and from Amazon. I guess it’s also possible it was a fake but I genuinely don’t believe so. I’ve already returned it so I can’t double check.I have several knives from WE and not one of them was dull out of the box. By "pretty dull", do you mean "less sharp than the edge you'd put on it", "less sharp than normal for Civivi", or actually dull? If actually dull, I have to ask. Where did you buy it and was it "new"?
How do you like the Elementum?
(I already have an Odium...)

I’ve had some time to use the riffle a bit and I absolutely love it. I’ve heard some people don’t like Civivi micarta but I love the scales on this. Only nitpick is I wish the blade was black. Maybe I’ll have to get it in Damascus one day.

And neither of these has the thumb stud opener option. If you are looking for a similar form factor the Praxis and Incite are both close to the Pintail in looks but both with larger blades. Unfortunately neither run S35VN as far as I am aware.

The Governor, in my etc rotation, is made with washers. That knife continues to grow on me.I recently got my first civivi with the imperium. I do really love the size and quality of the knife but was not a fan of the bearing action. Just because I prefer washers because I have more control when closing the knife. Especially without a flipper tab, the back edge of the blade near the choil nicked me when I was closing the knife. Anyone happen to know if civivi makes any washer knives? Or maybe a knife around the size of the imperium with a rounded flipper? I hate pointy flipper tabs
Fair. Maybe take a look at the Brazen then. About 3.5 inches of blade on the droppoint version and you get better steel with thumb studs on bearings. Pretty great action in my example. If only this knife had a 3.5 inch blade, I d get one right away. I ve been looking at it.

The Riffle looks interesting.
Yea the riffle is an excellent knife! Love the micarta too and great budget steelView attachment 1624172
The Riffle is an awesome knife.
I was not sure if I was going to like it with the goofy cutout but I think it is a great blade.
It is light and has perfect action, for a 55 dollar knife Civivi did a nice job on this.
If I had to nitpick this had the most obtuse angle of all my Civivi knives.
When I sharpened it I followed the factory grind and it felt like I had the spine pointing at the ceiling.
It probably is about 40 degrees, that will get dropped to a sub 30 number this weekend.
Still though it was very sharp out the box and from looking at the factory grind lines on it I see Civivi finishes their knives with a finer belt than most companies.
It was a breeze to remove the factory lines.
All in all an excellent blade.
I have heard people say that Civivi uses cheap micarta but I really like this kind the best out of all I have tried.Yea the riffle is an excellent knife! Love the micarta too and great budget steel
