The topic matter speaks for itself;
what's your favorite folding knife?
Pocket, "Tac", etc & why?

Me : Spyderco C29SBK "Cricket" ;)

Small, compact, lightweight &
in SE "razor" sharp

Mine is a JD Smith Spyderco PE. It's just the right size, perfect fit and finish, easy to open with Spyderco hole. And I love the Blade profile. I have quite a few that I really really like, but I would be saddest if something happened to that one.

Mine is my Strider GB, hands down. I have bought around 15 or so folders over the past two years. Sifus, Camillus Madd Maxx and EDC, Microtech Socom Elite, and Kestrel to name a few. It seems though, that the GB is the knife that always eends up in my pocket daily. I love all of the other knives that I have bought, BUT the GB instills the most " NO FAIL" feeling in me when I use it. It is large, heavy and beautifully brutish. It does all things I ask it to do daily and I know it will not fail me. Those are key elements to me in all things I own. I want a no fail feeling weather it is my truck, knife, or firearm. I want to know I can rely on it always. The GB makes me feel that way about it.

my fav, lol, depends on what i have gotten recently, but these are some sure 'nuff good ones..........imho

This subject is one of the toughest I think, because it always comes down to two or three. But I notice that I am usually wearing two:

Camillus Cuda Maxx
Cold Steel Scimitar

Both open on balance with just a flick of the wrist. I have to exaggerate the motion with the Maxx...and why bother since the flip/guard brings that d2 blade out and locks with a sound like cocking my grandads old double-barrel shotgun: **clack**! But with the Scimitar it is much more impressive to open with the wrist and not the stud action.

Okay, okay...of the two, I like the Scimitar. I notice that it never fails to draw looks at work when I use it and doesn't ever get the "Oh, boy!" roll-of-the-eyes, or shake-of-the-head, that happens when I use the Maxx.

Besides that, it's exotically sharp as hell...!!!

I like my enduras...
I got one SS SE in my back pocket, and one FRN PE in my front. both with the zap strap wave.

why?
they look really impressive when I pull them out at the same time. the SS is in my left in a reverse grip, and the FRN is in my right in a forward grip. sorta yin and yang...

ALL DAMN GOOD CHOICE(S)! ;)
Strider is GREAT ( I just can't get past the "price curve"; ditto Emerson :() Someday. Keep'em coming forumite(s)!

Sorta like Lay's potato chips........I can't do just one. I would say;

J.W. Smith LS-1 recurve.....4" blade of S30V
Kit Carson Model 4......4" blade of 154CM
Mike Obenauf Model 2........3.75" blade of S30V

All due to how well they are made to include the liner locking system, and the overall fit and finish on them. Super steel or plain ole 154, it doesn't matter.......they are all razor's!

My favorite working folder is an out law bill (the first editions). You can laugh at will but it's a sturdy and hard working knife and has the advantage of not beeing expensive. So I use it on the toughest tasks withowt feeling bad about it.

The out law bill is made by kershaw!!! The only problem I've found on is that it rusts if not frequentelly oiled.

I have two favorites.
The CRK small Sebenza...High tech marerials, near perfect craftsmanship, rock solid lock-up, versatile design, and it feels great in my hand.

The Victorinox Pioneer...Two blade model, large and small spearpoint blades. Carries light and flat in the pocket. Solid build and strong spring. Takes and holds an amazing edge. For me, it's as close to the perfect pocket knife as I'm likely to find.

The one that stays with me all the time is my Spyderco Calypso Jr.PE. It has all the good virtues for a light duty EDC.

Dozens of SAK's
Every Leatherman
Gerber
Boker Canoe (very good for the $50)
BM CQC7
CRKT KISS
MT M-Socom
CRK sm Sebenza

These are the only noteworthy knives that have passed through my posession. I say 'noteworthy' only because there are the ones memory serves.

2 years with the sebenza has definitely changed the way I look at knives. It seems that everybody likes their maker of choice. THere are many reasons... but mine are Great tools... Great people. While I'M SURE that if I saved up and went out to buy a nice Terzuola or Mayo or Carson or even a nice custom Klotzi I WOULD be satisfied with my CHOICE... With Reeve... It seems like the availability is good... you KNOW what you're getting and you GET what you've seen and expect. Although for a substantial chunk more CRK will pull out the freaky funk and custom design and etch a seb for you as well. Lets just say I'm not done dealing with CRK yet.

I never thought I'd say it, but the Strider AR is my new favorite for big folders. You really have to hold and use one to understand the reasoning behind this. The pictures just don't tell the real story.

Now, for a smaller knife, and a perfect compliment to the AR, my Extra Small Model 2 framlock Obenauf is just the ticket. It's just the perfect size to whip out in public, plus it's a real vault, being that its a framelock.

Both steels are S30V, by the way, and I've found this new steel to be very, very good, given the right hardness. They really hold an edge.

Right now it is my Benchmade 941D2CF! I really like this knife. I am searching for a nice 2~2.75 in. folder. I love the 941D2CF, but I get strange looks at school if I need to use it. I'm thinking about trying out one of those discontinued Spyderco Navigators. I found some on sale at $29.00. At that price I can't go wrong, if I like it great, if I don't well it will go into the toolbox.

Emerson mini commander - plain edge, black finish and blade.

I love the blade shape - it cuts through anything. It feels fantastic in my hand - very solid and ergonomic. It is a dream to open. Now I feel undressed unless it is on me.

At this point it's still my trusty Large Sebenza, although the AR brings up a close second. The AR is actually too big for many of my daily applications, but it still sees its fair share of work.

This next year will begin my exploration into customs. We'll see what my anwer is NEXT time.

;)

Ya'll have got to handle an Onion. I just got my first one, a Midtech Boa and I've never held a knife that just feels so right in your hand. Its balanced perfectly, light enough that you're not even aware that its there, but not so light that it feels flimsy. You think that the Speedsafe in a Kershaw works nice, a real Onion just blows it a way. The only problem is getting guts enough to carry it. Haven't quite got there yet but I'm working on it.
