I know that this question has been asked before, but it was usually which is your favorite chopper, or all around, or even weapon. What I'm wondering is what is your favorite? Which khukuri is the one that gives you goosebumps when you pick it up? Mine is a Malla, one of the last made by Kumar. It is the most beautiful blade I own. Not only that, but I love the way it handles. Plus, knowing the history behind it and all the people that were involved in its creation makes it even more special and valuable.

So what's your favorite?

Favorite that I own is my Malla. Man, that's an easy choice.

I guess my absolute favorite khukuri would have to be something along the lines of a kothimoda. That thing's just beautiful, but can anyone who owns one bring themselves to use it???

I think Steven F used the karda and chakma from his Kothimoda during Thanksgiving dinner. Does that count?

Sentimental reasons, sounds like it could be a good story Uncle Bill. Plus, that is a pretty khukuri.

Uncle,

I think the logo khukuri would be my favorite too. I want one like it, just for the cho alone. What are its specs by the way?

I think my personal favorite is my 18th century model. Even though it's a blem, it is an incredable knife. I do also like the Malla, I have one by Kumar.

I think I know little of the story of the logo knife. As I recall it was Pala's personal weapon when he was an active Ghorka, and he later gave it to Uncle Bill as a present. REALLY nice guy, huh? Anyway, I'm sure Uncle will give us the whole story later.

I have all ways been a big Ang Khola fan. I love brute strength!! I just got my 17 inch GRS and now is my fave! It has the same bulk as the AK's but just seems to have more of a "personality" all it's own. I think the fit and finish is also a step above the rest!!

Guys,
ONLY "ONE" FAV?? I have two,both weapons,YCS(by Durba) & WW2,16"( by Bura)
This may change, but I doubt it!Looking forward to what other members say, then I wonder, if they will change their minds as others post!

My 19' AK by Bura is tough to beat. I am saving up for some other stuff too, so it could change. I just started working a night job so I can pay off some OLD credit card bills. Then the HIKV will begin in earnest.

My favorite is my old Shop 1 16.5" WWII khuk. I have an 18" WWII with a carved handle and engraved blade but it doesn't hold a candle to my 16.5 incher. My WWII's scrolled buttcap, beautiful reddish-brown handle (one of the reasons I named it Thulo Rato, or Big Red (this was before the days of 25" and 30" Kobras and Sirupatis

)), and sleek blade epitomize simple, elegant beauty. I have used it on roughly 99% of my chopping chores, and the blade has the scratches to show for it. As I have said before, it will probably remain my favorite forever.

let's see tho... I carry my YCS in my shoulder bag everyday. I also just got a brown box today. I will have to see how the new ones act

The one that I always reach for is still my 20" Sirupati. Fist oves are always the best.

:
My favorite dpends on the job I'm doing, but for most general work do I really have to say?
The YCS of course.

Still raining here and no chance to use the Baby GRS as of yet. I have a feeling it may edge out my 18" AK though as my 2nd favorite.

As Uncle Bill says though,
"Stay tuned."

My first one: 20" AK with wood handle. It is a beauty! Perfect hardness--it sings when you burnish it.

My YCS, hands down!!! The deep fullers and the sweet sweep from the waist to the belly of that blade is pure beauty to behold. I can not wait to get one of the YCS# 2 plain Jane models with the steel hardware and twin kardas and awl. That blade may never leave my hand. To me, that blade shape is my favorite so far. I think a GRS may be calling me in the future though. HeHeHe

:
Bob it sounds like your WW II has a rosewood handle.
Out of all the woods H.I. uses to handle the khukuris with the rosewood is my favorite as well.
It used to be fairly common, but it's probably a supply issue and the kamis use what they have on hand.

I have one of my GRS's setting here by my desk and the other day when I was oilng my Canemaster's cane with mineral oil I still had some on my ands so I rubbed the GRS's rosewood handle down with it.
It has been a while since I oiled it and I forgot just how beautiful that handle is with a fresh coat of oil soaking in it.

My cane has now soaked up 4 coats of mineral oil and the hickory heart is starting to take a real nice
glow.

And it's hard for me to have just one favorite even if it is the YCS.
I still say it depends on the job needing done at the time for those of us that have a choice.
I can't see myself wih only one khukuri though.
Perhaps someday when I get too old I will have to hang the big ones up, but there's just something about the power a full sized GRS has.
The one by my desk weighs a full 3 Lbs by itself!!!

The YCS is the finest handling Khukuri I have handled and I've seen a few!

Favorite for what?

The ONE, & ONLY khukuri, My Hanuman special - hanuman handle/18" WWII blade.

The ALWAYS khukuri, a 12" Sirupati or AK.

The DRESS khukuri, Sanu forward curving "Sun, Moon, & Stars".

They are all three magical.
