Whats your favorite pocket knife and why?

I have quite a few knives that are part of the general rotation including several Spyderco models, a Griptilian, and a couple of small custom fixed blades. However, the one I end up carrying most often, by far, is my Benchmade mini-Adamas. It’s a Shane Sibert design, and I have yet to find another knife that feels so perfect in-hand. My first one had a green G10 handle and tan blade, but the one I carry lately has a burgundy red micarta handle and a black blade. Altogether I’m about two years in on the Adamas.

Spear point Recon 1.
Handle ergonomics and size are so far the best for my hand. It has enough thickness to be tough, but not too much to make it cut poorly. Blade lenght is good, it's fairly large for a pocket knife. It's light for it's size. Triad lock is super strong, yet still very smooth. And S35VN is a good steel. You don't worry about corrosion, holds the edge well and it's fairly tough for stainless steel.

I have three Adamas, two folders and the older saw blade back D2 fixed blade. The folders I have the D2 and scored a LNIB cruwear for $60. They are tanks for sure.

Spyderco PM2 and Para3. They were the first really nice, really “expensive” knives that I could afford after years and years of gas station & low end purchases. I remember being so proud and treasuring them way back then and only carrying them for special occasions so as not to mar the finish or scratch the scales. As time passed, many more knives were added and most were far more expensive and far more “fancy”. Now, 10 or 15 years later, those two guys are still my favorites, and they’re still mostly pristine. Now the Spartans, Chris Reeves, Rocksteads, etc. may have a some wear and a few (maybe many) scratches, but those Spydercos? Aside from just a tiny bit of wear, they’re perfect…..just as they always have been! After all these years they continue to make me both happy and proud of my hobby.

Hard question, because my favorite doesn't get much pocket time. Right now my fav is my Spyderco Caribean, but because it's a locker I can't carry it without reason (I can't fish everyday). So the "time in position" winner is my LM Surge. Weekend options are Vic compact and Lil' native slippy, since those are both 'penknives' under my current legislative conditions. Tool for the job I guess

This is a good question. I like all my knives. However I have a bad hand. I favor my Kershaw links, I have two of them.one in drop point the other in tanto. I have difficulty opening food packages. I was using my teeth and they are chipping. I use my two mentioned knives for most kitchen and package tasks many times a day. My life is easier with them. Frankly speaking I need them. I see them as a handicap aid. I also have other knives that I don't use anymore due to I don't go out much anymore . but they are well preserved for my son when I depart this world.

I like LoomFixers, a lot.

Why? Because they have 2 decent sized blades that tend to compliment either my 110 or fixed blade on my belt. They have no hot spot, and the wideness and flatness keep it laying flat in my pocket and keep it from wanting to roll in my hand while using it.

My EDFC is now, and has been for over twenty years, a Leatherman Wave.

As a young man in the 1980s, I worked outdoors wearing a hard hat in several successive career paths. In those days the knife to have was a Buck 110 in a black leather belt pouch.

Laer in Life, I became a health care worker in a major teaching hospital. The Buck looked too butch on my belt and was too heavy in my pocket . . .and was too big for most things I had to cut.

I went to the Leatherman tools. The early iterations were somewhat finicky to deploy and use conveniently. The early Wave models were better, but still not quite there. The later versions were pretty good, but they went to a tiny scissors which I don't like. Wish the wire cutter was more like a side-cutting electrician's sort of thing too . . .but overall, the Leatherman Wave is my favorite "pocketknife" today. Light cutting chores and casual maintenance of our gear really streamlined the workflow some days.

I don't like the pocket clip carry and prefer a horizontal belt pouch though . . .so maybe it isn't really my favorite pocketknife.

I have been retired since 2003, but whenever i put my pants on and go outside the house, my Letherman Wave is as much a part of my kit as my wallet and keys.

No matter what new knife I get, one of my Chris Reeve knives end up back in my pocket sooner or later. It's be hard to pick which CRK is the favourite, but for the last year or so it's been the large 31. Then, there's always an ALOX SAK in my pocket too.

Chris Reeve Large Inkosi Insingo

It’s made in the USA.

Best ergos I’ve ever had on a folder. Nothing I need a knife to do on a daily basis at work, home or out and about it can’t do. A tool you can depend on to serve you for quite possible a life time.

It’s as smooth as a well broken in 21 and maybe tougher than the Umnumzaan. Easy to open, use and close with either hand. A marvel of both engineering/design and simplicity with nothing added it didn’t need.

It’s sheeple and office friendly and it won’t get you chuckled at on a job site when your bairings get full of crap and your flipper freezes!

It will never be confused as pocket jewelry but has no problem being used at the theater or ballpark ( done both).

My other knives are 3 Sebenzas an Umnumzaan and a Mnandi and unless I force a different choice the Inkosi goes in the pocket by default.

Edit : added a recycled picture.
