Whats your favorite pocket knife and why?

Alox SAK like a Victorinox pioneer or my old Wenger SI. It gives me a knife to open packages, cut whatever, but also gives me flat and Phillips screw driving capabilities, bottle and can opening, light prying, awl for starter holes for wood screws or drilling small holes in whatever, and wire striping capability.

Its not the best knife, but it has many times saved the day by the ability to make a repair out in the middle of somewhere. If I can only have one knife, it'll be a SAK.

I have quite a few knives that are part of the general rotation including several Spyderco models, a Griptilian, and a couple of small custom fixed blades. However, the one I end up carrying most often, by far, is my Benchmade mini-Adamas. It’s a Shane Sibert design, and I have yet to find another knife that feels so perfect in-hand. My first one had a green G10 handle and tan blade, but the one I carry lately has a burgundy red micarta handle and a black blade. Altogether I’m about two years in on the Adamas.

I have hundreds of knives. I have dozens attached to sentimental value. I have many that have been in use for over 30 years of collecting/accumulating. Lots of them are very cool or purpose-driven or what have you.

However, I'm with you on the Adamas. I'm not a Benchmade fanboi. I think I have maybe half a dozen of their knives, but the Adamas folders are masterful. No matter what I buy, I always end up with an Adamas in my right pocket and a Leatherman in my left. I have really taken a shine to the way the Adamas opens, closes, cuts, and holds an edge as a work folder.

My biggest hang up is deciding which one to pack. The full size is so capable and offers such a wide blade with a stout tip. However, I'm with you on the Mini. It melts into my hand and cuts way above its weight class.

Usually the full size goes with me to work and the mini goes on light hikes. Either would be "if you could only have one folder" knife.

My favorite pocket knife? It would either be my CRK Mnandi but to be honest I don’t carry it anymore, too expensive and difficult to replace if I lost or damaged it. The other knife that checks pretty much all of the boxes is my Spyderco Lil’ NatiVe. I am an office worker so my cutting needs on most days are pretty light. I don’t need a large to heavy duty knife. If I need to cut up a bunch of cardboard or some other heavy duty/nasty cutting chore I have a couple of fixed blades hanging on a wall in my garage for that kind of stuff.

Spyderco Endura, because it's slim and compact compared to other spydies. The added blade length makes me feel comfy should I ever have to use it in a self defense situation. It's just a super practical light weight high functioning design.

For home use and cutting fruits and meats it would be an Opinel No. 8.

Honorable mention would be the most abused beater knife I've ever owned, a modified Ganzo FH922.

I don’t have a favorite, my mood changes. I may want a para 3 today, dragonfly tomorrow and Kapara afternoon etc.

Right now it’s the Goddard.
I think any one of these well made knives could fulfill the favorite category, if I needed or wanted it to.

My favorite, and most carried changes.
Not that I don't have many knives that are treasures to me, for one reason or another. I find myself slipping these in my pocket like an old friend. These old friends are usually a traditional slip joint. Many days, most days, I have one of these in my pocket also.
At the moment my favorite, and most carried, is my Pro-Tech Malibu. It does everything I need it to do, and is just a fun knife to carry and fiddle with. For many years it was my William Henry Tom Brown Quest.

Spyderco Endura. I have carried one since 1992 and have never been let down by one of them. Now I can choose blade steel and grips but I typically carry FRN. The current K390 is amazing and is a wicked slicing steel. I have muscle memory that allows me to carry it safely opening or closing it one handed and I can get it into use from my pocket faster than any auto. When carrying it around people I make an effort to not flick it open or move it too fast which is something I have to watch out for after 30 years of carrying .
