I’m seriously interested in the Buck 124. Seems durable for 99% of camp chores that need to be handled. I have large hands and am curious if this be a good fit for me.Buck 124 or a Buck 119. Both have proven to be exceptional tools for me. Very versatile designs. Capable of everything I’ve ever needed them to do.
the carvings shown below were made entirely with the 124, except for that large serving spoon which I used a hook knife to make the bowl.

It is very durable. It will handle any camp chore, at least in my experience. I’ve done everything from batoning seasoned & knotty hardwoods to notching and fine whittling, and everything in between, and it has never once disappointed me.I’m seriously interested in the Buck 124. I paid 199.99 a few months ago from that big gun and accessory store located in Mo. I looked just now and they are selling them for 208.14 today. And it is the latest one made of cpm-3v steel.I love those also... the only problem is they're now north of $400![]()

Hard to say, I had to go custom for that route. Thanks for all the good responses and pictures. Gives me alot to think about.
Are there any production bowies in the modern ABS style?
Thank you, the wood handled Laredo Bowie was the knife I was thinking about in regards to an ABS style production Bowie.I'm partial to Cold Steel's Recon Scout and Laredo Bowie.

The W49 is a great chopper and slicer, although the guard is obtrusive and the handle is blocky. These can still be found on the secondary market.

For daily carry, the Perrin Street Bowie is pretty hard to beat. Spyderco's rendition is accessible, reasonably priced, and easy to carry, although I wish they would offer a new steel.

I am racking my brain trying to remember, but I know for a fact there are a few other production bowies that are in that style.Thank you, the wood handled Laredo Bowie was the knife I was thinking about in regards to an ABS style production Bowie.
