What's your favorite production bowie?

Tops Longhorn or Prather War Bowie. I like that the Longhorn fits my hand wonderfully. Easy to accomplish a lot of camp chores with this knife. The Prather is a great camp knife that doubles as a great self defense tool. Fits my hand well also (not as well as the Longhorn). IMO, Tops makes the best production 1095 knives available.

Buck 124 or a Buck 119. Both have proven to be exceptional tools for me. Very versatile designs. Capable of everything I’ve ever needed them to do.

the carvings shown below were made entirely with the 124, except for that large serving spoon which I used a hook knife to make the bowl.

I’m seriously interested in the Buck 124. Seems durable for 99% of camp chores that need to be handled. I have large hands and am curious if this be a good fit for me.

It is very durable. It will handle any camp chore, at least in my experience. I’ve done everything from batoning seasoned & knotty hardwoods to notching and fine whittling, and everything in between, and it has never once disappointed me.

I have large hands as well, and that’s one of the reasons I like the 124. The 124’s handle fills my hands better than most knives.

Even with puffy snow mitts on, the handle accommodates easily.

I paid 199.99 a few months ago from that big gun and accessory store located in Mo. I looked just now and they are selling them for 208.14 today. And it is the latest one made of cpm-3v steel.
... interesting ...
knifecenter wants $403.99 for some reason, some things are going wonky

Thanks for all the good responses and pictures. Gives me alot to think about.

Are there any production bowies in the modern ABS style?

In that arena, you'd have to search on the secondary market for one of OVB Camilus Fisk Presentation Bowie, they were highly regarded and should fit the bill, if you can locate one. The OVB acronym stands for Our Very Best
G2

I'm partial to Cold Steel's Recon Scout and Laredo Bowie.

The W49 is a great chopper and slicer, although the guard is obtrusive and the handle is blocky. These can still be found on the secondary market.

For daily carry, the Perrin Street Bowie is pretty hard to beat. Spyderco's rendition is accessible, reasonably priced, and easy to carry, although I wish they would offer a new steel.

Thank you, the wood handled Laredo Bowie was the knife I was thinking about in regards to an ABS style production Bowie.
