It’s yuge. The handle is skinny/ flat. Surprisingly light too.

And then there is yuge-er

I've got their Von Tempsky Bowie, and it's a real stout beast!View attachment 2116182
Would have been my answer, too. Absolut monster, wood splitting ability is about the level of a small axe and it can even cut and carve like a knife. Close second is the older cs recon scout in O1. Smaller overall package, but it punches well above it's weight (or length, at least).
Only thing I'm really missing in my collection is a stout, well made and ridiculously large version of the musso pattern.

I had one of those in O1, about 8-9 years ago. It just didn’t perform well at all. Chipped like crazy. Big, large chips (up to a cm in size) from doing standard knifework with it. Nothing crazy. I’ve done way harder work with a cheap & thin Mora and it never chipped like that Recon Scout did. In fact, I’ve never come across a knife that chipped like that.

I probably just got a lemon, I’m not sure. But it did bum me out, especially since I bought it directly from Cold Steel out of their showroom in Ventura CA, in person.

Oh, that's bad. Didn't hear of such failures before, so maybe you are right with it beeing a lemon. Mine performed just fine, even with really hard use I never got a problem. Only the grip chewed up my hands without gloves, so I hockey taped it. The sheath is bullshit, so I replaced it with a leather sheath.

That’s awesome, glad to hear it’s performed well for you!
