What's your favorite Traditional fixed blade knife?

modified the title to remind posters in which forum this is.

I would have to say the Sharpfinger. My dad used one when I was a kid & its just the first knife I think about when I hear traditional fixed blade.

My favorite traditional fixed blade is this custom drop point from David Farmer. 9" OAL in forged, differentially hardened L6 tool steel with bamboo handles.

I have cleaned and skinned many deer with this beauty, and it's combination of strength, size, handling qualities and edge retention are just superb.

MAMBA...you beat me to it !....I too rate my Farmer highly...Great steel, shape and very tradional....FES

Russell is hard to beat too

Posted earlier today - I'm loving my GEC Bird & Trout - by far the pattern I get the most use out of as a traditional fixed blade, and the size and blade shape are perfect for this task. A well made, well designed knife at a great price.

My favorite changes from day to day but this little drop point by Burt Foster is my go to most of the time. 0-1 and 15N20 random Damascus. Flat ground and takes an holds an edge extremely well.

Whenever I really have to do something that needs a fixed blade to be done I reach for one these puukko's. Puukko's in general are my most usefull blades. The top one is my favourite and has seen most use.

I've got a lot of favourites..puukkot,some Bark Rivers, Sharpfinger etc but scarcely any pix. But what's the point??? This Russell is outstanding, nothing I have comes near its sheer beauty, fine knife there Fes!

Regards, Will

Not nearly as practical as hunting and fishing knives that I actually use, but I would have to say my favorite is the Randall Model 1 which I am experiencing vicariously through the Blackjack 1-7. The long, lean lines are beautiful and I like the fact that it has some history behind it.

Several favorites....

But the one I'd grab to go hunting would be one of these old Westerns!

Great looking - these Marbles and Western are really appealing. Very nice knives, my friend :)

I love both of these, a Terrio Strix and a BHK Frontier First Patch-- and their O1 steel.

I am not sure if it is considered a traditional Fixed blade knife or not but my favorite is a Ka-bar and the reason it is my favorite is because it has a great deal of history

Nice kitchen knife block! I thought I was the only one who stored knives in chunks of cheese.

Michael

Fast and easy-- one doesn't have to be as particular about how to insert the blade, and if one misses too badly the result is still tasty.
