What's Your Favorite Type of Lock on a Folding Knife??

The lockback is my favorite, really the only one I am comfortable with. I don't think lockbacks are the strongest but they are what I have always used, grew up with I guess, and they were always adquete for my needs.

1. Titanium Framelock
2. Axis Lock
3. Compression Lock
4. Liner Lock
5. Lockback
6. Button Lock

It's getting so people just automatically call differing opinions as "hating" or "trolling". :p

Opionion with justification is not Trolling, Trolls are just that just Trrrool, and are anti because they heard, or know from a onnamed source. Locks that work be it on a Emerson, ZT, Spyderco is desirable. Working Lock is wor]nderful, no working is failure.

I thought I'd show a tally of the votes, including myself. Some said multiple knives, but I tried to quickly decipher them if they weren't in order. So, here it is: Compression: 13 Frame: 13 No Preference: 6 Axis: 6 Liner: 5 Tri-ad: 4 Button: 3 (C)BBL: 2 Lockback: 1

I generally prefer frame locks. I also have a 2750 Adamas and I really like the Axis Auto lock feature.

Frame lock would be my favorite. Sprinkle on a lock bar stabilizer for good measure.

Ease of use/convenience trumps lock strength for me. My first choice is liner lock, after that it's pretty much a tie between Axis and Frame locks. Axis locks are easy to use but I am just not so accustomed to the motion as I am for liners or frames, which are pretty similar, but frame locks can be less comfortable to disengage. Compression lock is really secure but I don't have the knack for disengaging it easily. Mid/back locks are my least favorite, which is a bummer since Spyderco uses it a lot.

I like the ceramic-ball interface framelock the most. After that, it would be between axis lock (and the ones like it) and a well done framelock, and then liner locks.

See what I mean? This is a "favorite" lock thread. You don't need to justify your favorite. BTW, just calling a poster a troll, don't make it so. :p

I do find that the people who can't abide differing opinions are the first to scream "troll".

Axis-lock and button-lock, then mid-lock (Triad or otherwise). Button-lock is easiest to use but don't see it on many models that i want, axis is common on desirable benchmades, triad from Cold Steel and mid-locks from all over (really like my Gerber Order).

In order: 1, Liner Lock - hard to beat a classic,
2, Lockback - again another classic.
3. Axis Lock - Love it, but once the omega springs wear pretty good, it becomes useless.
And below every other lock IMHO the Frame Lock - I hate it, I've had too many frame locks fail on me.

Doing what, and from what manufacturer?
I haven't had a failure of one ever, even when doing somewhat silly things with them.
In fact, they're one of my favourite locks. :)
