Whats your favorite wild game to eat?

Of the wild game I have tried, I like elk the best. I'm not a big venison eater unless it is venison burger. Rabbit can be very good. You just have to watch for parasites.

I have tried walleye and like it the best. Next probably is a tossup between salmon, catfish or crappie. Trout is good also. I've never caught a salmon. I like non-fishy fish the best.

mammals: elk and nilgai
boids: quail and pheasant
fish: right now, probably yellowtail snapper (actually a member of the wrasse family and not a real snapper), wahoo and yellowfin tuna. I really like dolphin (mahi) but I have eaten so much of it over the years that it has almost become boring. In south Florida. we catch smaller schoolie dolphin offshore like most people catch crappie, bluegill and bream.

Man it is hard to pick a favorite. Me and my family eat game a lot. Deer, wildturkey, quail , doves, ducks, and wild pigs (female do not want any boar) all are regular in our house. Deer of course is the most eatten. Typically put 3 deer in the freezer a season and that gets us to the next.

Deer, and either rockfish or mako shark. For a Christmas party last year, a friend of the family made bacon wrapped venison. Best preparation of venison I've ever had. Venison stew and venison chili got me through the blizzard in February. Venison steaks on the grill are great if they are soaked enough the night before.

Being a life long MD resident, I love rockfish. I always try to get mako shark at dinner when I am "down the ocean", but this year I didn't. I might go down this month for a powwow, and stop by one of the local Ocean City MD restaurants just for some mako shark. Blackened on the grill with some pepper, butter and lemon juice is the best way to have it.

Looking at supplementing the dinner table with more wild game, both fish and game.

My favorite has to be either Morel Mushrooms or Huckleberries. They're both awesome! :D

Big game: Dahl sheep, moose and elk.
Small Game: Rabbit
Birds: Bobwhite Quail and smoked turkey.
Fish: Walleye and Blue Catfish(opolousis).

I get to eat 'roasted loin of elk' just about every year in one of my favorite restaurants in CO. The Golden Eagle. Even if I am not very hungry it is freakin' delicious. I don't know what the chef does, but it is just about the tastiest foodstuff I have ever graced my taste buds with. Wow. Old thread. This one had passed me by. Until now. :)

Have yet to have any wild game that I hated but in order of yummyness (IMO) is:

* Steelhead
* Deer
* Largemouth Bass
* Groundhog
* Trout
* Rabbit
* Squirrel
* Duck
* Goose

That sounds pretty close.
