*** What's Your Grail? GAW *** Winner Announced

I had to think about this one a bit. So many fantastic knives, so little time!

First, I certainly want to share the opportunity that others have done for me, so I would like to post for Gary 5K Qs 5K Qs , always post incredible multi quotes, I think that's why his handle is 5,000 Quotes!:D:thumbsup:

So many great makers and vendors here, I would love to support them when I can. So my grails would be:

The great folder from Charlie! This forum has really shaped my mind on what works for me, and one that I have discovered here, due to Jack Black, is the Lambsfoot! Charlie's version is just incredible, especially the Ebony, so it is the top pick for the folder!

As far as fixed blades, one maker here has really hit the nail on the head for me, and that's John over @Redmeadow Knives Such a talen young man, and his designs really are wonderful. I would put his Bowie at the very top.

Great choices, Dennis.

My grail, a GEC 81 Abilene stockman with yellow bone and the rose shield or the same with stag handles and the UN-X-LD shield. If I'm thinking about full customs then the Esnyx stockman with ebony scales, I just really like his interpretation of the main blade.

The GEC 77 single clip point blade Barlow in Spring Green. I missed out :(

Uh-huh.
Definitely the Bowie from Redmeadow
Those guards and sweeping lines are a knife nut's siren song.
@Redmeadow Knives

I'm in on this one. The knife I'd most like to have at this time is a GEC #252208 Purple Haze. I think there were three of them made. I like to call it the starry night knife.
I've never seen one and had to heist this picture of it. Maybe one day I'll come across one and be in a position to get it.

Thanks for the generous GAW, Darren :cool::); the subscription prize is a good one. I almost always enter when Randy glocktenman glocktenman runs his subscription GAW, so I'll enter this one, too, but with a "twist".

Thanks for your very considerate "passing" of your entry to me, Dennis!;) But to keep "karmic balance", I'm going to ask that if my number comes up, the subscription goes to Dennis. (That will also give Darren a chance to use his superb problem solving skills to resolve the paradox that arises if Dennis wins and passes the prize to me, who passes it back to Dennis, who passes it back to me, ...)

I'm not completely clear on the concept of grail knives. Can a knife really be a grail of mine if I'm unwilling to pay what it takes to get it, should the opportunity to buy that knife arise? I think there are many knives I pine for in theory, but in practice, I wouldn't do what it takes to arrange the necessary funds. I'll ignore that for now, and list some knives that always catch my attention/heartstrings.

I've been gradually collecting a number of Case chestnut jigged bone CV patterns: Sodbuster Jr., Swayback Jack, Sowbelly Stockman, Peanut, Mini Trapper, Teardrop, and just recently, Medium Stockman and Muskrat. I don't think a canoe was ever officially a part of this series from Case, but I know that chestnut jigged CV 62131 canoes exist, and I'd love to find one of those!:cool::thumbsup:

ETA: I almost forgot that perhaps my longest-lasting grail is a Victorinox Alox Settler with spear and pen blades on opposite ends!

I've never been a huge fan of Barlows, not even the TC Barlows, with one notable exception. The clip/pen antique amber saw cut bone 151213 TC Barlow has always made my heart (and those of a million others ) ache with longing!

Returning to my fascination with canoes, the GEC ebony 162212 Little Indian Girl canoe was released on my birthday, so I've always found that to be a very desirable knife (the rust red jigged bone 162212 was also released that day, so it's a close second in "grailishness" to the ebony version).

Finally, here's a knife that only existed in my mind until Darren Photoshopped one for me! ;)
It's a Case mini trapper with lambsfoot/spey blade combo, and either chestnut jigged bone, stag, or ebony covers!

Thanks again, Darren, and best wishes to all the entrants!! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great idea for a gaw, appreciate the opportunity Darren, I don't enter knife gaw for the reasons in your op. Here's my grail, I went through several nice custom folders and eventually passed them along, this one stuck, it's always in my pocket.

wow! what is this?!

Awesome idea, Darren! I’ll throw my hat into the ring.

I’ve been slowly transitioning my GEC collection to focus on Ivory, which is just full of grails. I’ve got a hit-list of patterns, but the top spot as to be a 45 roughneck... or a 15... or a 68 white owl... or a...
