I'm sure you all have that one traditional that you swear you will own one day but is always a bit out of reach due to price, availability, etc.... What is your grail?? Mine is a northwoods burnside jack in calico bone. It will be mine one of these days!!...hahaha
I stole this pic from google. I apologize if it belongs to someone here!!

Nah, I don't really have one. I don't much lust after the expensive ones. I get by pretty well with what I already have.

Leadchop54, that is actually my photo. Taken in my backyard last week. LOL, just call the enabler!

Don't really have a grail either. I like the look of some of the customs but honestly don't see them being any better than the stuff I have. I used to have grail knives when I first started collecting but long since lost that kind of thinking. I'm more interested in trying different styles of knives rather than having "the one". For me knives are more about experience and I find that variety is the fun part of knives not owning expensive or difficult to find knives.

I don't have a grail. I don't spend more than a $100 on a traditional and even than only 2 of my six are 75 and up. the rest are 50 and below. I can be happy with a Case Peanut in my pocket but I also really like those Barlows.

Though I can't say it's my grail knife... I have considered getting, but always put it aside... one of the GEC Whalers :)

I suppose it would be a GEC lockback with drop point blade. But I don't know which model — #72? — and to tell the truth, I've got the main items I ever want.

My grail? Either a Tony Bose Toenail or an Erickson Horseman's knife.

This one.

Probably not what you had in mind, but this knife is as close to perfection a man-made thing can be. It is a true grail, the only one existing in the entire world.

This one by Mr. Erickson is about as close to perfection as a knife can get for me. The eureka frame is superb to look at and has a great feel in hand. I think my version would have a clip instead of spear but that coping blade, it makes the knife just perfect. Its got all the right dimensions and being single spring I can only imagine how well it vanishes in the pocket.

:D

That's a beauty!

Now I can't help but think that the #92 Eureka Jack is essentially this knife you show (except that both blades hinge at the same end on the 92). My 92 is a spear/coping and I've often thought this would HAVE to be a candidate for the "one knife" if I had to pick and stay with only one for life. It's a full sized knife at 3.75" and the blade combo is my personal favorite.

Mine would be the two bladed sheepsfoot Charlow with sawcut bone scales. I missed them when they came out and could not have afforded one anyway. Maybe I will be able to find one when things get better but until then I just enjoy seeing all the pictures on here. Charlie made the perfect knife with this one. Merry Christmas everyone!!
