What's your grail traditional?

I've bought mine a dozen times at least. I still haven't found it yet. This addiction is very confusing...
Seriously, any knife made by Tony Bose would fit the bill for me.

My grail traditional has been the single spearpoint TC barlow for almost a year now.

Was thinking hard about a specific grail knife this morning... but, still no specific knife came to mind. But, was thinking about my previous post on this thread about my having held off on buying a GEC whaler. Then thought to myself on how I still have not added an elephant Ivory handled pocket knife to my collection. Okay.. there it is for me, a GEC whaler in elephant ivory handle scales (it probably does exist), but price would likely be a bit more than I would want to drop right now. Still, Ivory is a material that has eluded my collection, and am hoping I change that fact during the coming new year :) May all your grail knives find their way to you all, my friends :)

There is only one.......

A nice, minty, Mod. 0.8241.20, Victorinox, Silver Cross, Red ALOX Farmer with brass liners and Vic SSR Tang Stamp.

I have one of these with 25+ years of mileage on it (some of it mine) and I love it for EDC (still tight and snappy)....but I want a really, really nice one to complete my Red ALOX collection.

There are GEC's, Old Timers and Cases that I want......but that one singular Red Farmer (super condition + affordability) tis the one I seek....

Very nice choice! I feel the same way about the older red Pioneers with brass hardware. I can tell that you and have very similar tastes in cutlery.

Thanks buddy! Those Red ALOX must be coated with some kinda addictive substance....(like they put on Doritos)! :D

No grail. I try not to over-think knives in general.
About 1/5th of my knives will be given away as gifts this month.

I probably already own my favorite. My favorites are like offensive lineman in football.
I have 5 that I like a lot. 1 or 2 that are better than the others. All are used.
No fancy photos of any of them.

I'm still discovering and refining my tastes, but my grail would be an Erickson, as of this writing something with this relative form factor:

HeritageJack.jpg~original

3.25", debate between spear and clip main, possibly ebony as above but-- if going Grail-- it would be hard if not impossible to forego Ken's always-beautifully-proportioned jigging, so a golden brown or chocolate bone would probably win out.

Steel? Anything good that takes a nice Pertinux Patina in use. :)

Grail II: A Burt Foster Darkside like Peregrin's, which makes me gasp and smile every time I see it.

There's an Ohta I've just selected the stag slabs for. Not long to go...

I HAD a grail knife for a while, quite a modest Hoffritz pen. But Glennbad is I hope, fixing it up for me....

This one by Mr. Erickson is about as close to perfection as a knife can get for me. The eureka frame is superb to look at and has a great feel in hand. I think my version would have a clip instead of spear but that coping blade, it makes the knife just perfect. Its got all the right dimensions and being single spring I can only imagine how well it vanishes in the pocket.

:D

That knife's got swagger like Bogart four drinks in. I really, really like this one.

Right now I'm having Gene Wiseman make me a large Grandaddy Barlow in D2. I can't help but think this will be a grail of a sort. I'm really impressed with his work, and look forward to it.

This knife definitely looks grail worthy to me! I love the jigging on it. Looks like Rogers bone.

Love that! Those are the soup bone handles right?

Thanks!

You are right! Its officially known as inside/out saw cut bone, and unofficially known as the 'soup bone'. It's the reverse side or marrow side of the bone that is not normally used.

A grail for me would be a custom by one of the talented makers here. There are so many I wouldn't know where to begin, though Enrique Pena's jigged bone handles just totally blow me away, fantastic
Bose, Hampton, Pena, Erickson, Coates, Oeser, Halfrich, Chamblin, Davison, Ohta, Kawamura, Rogers, Lloyd, etc. etc.

I did manage to score a sweet little Lloyd a couple weeks back, it's usually in my watch pocket. A little over 3", it's an African blackwood shadow pattern single clip blade jack. The danger is that now that I have one custom I want more. The only things that stop me are availability and lack of funds :D

My grail (at this time) would be a custom version of the Case medium jackknife. Heck I'd be happy if Case offered the pattern in jigged bone & CV steel.
