What's your grail?

What happens when you capture your grail?

In the last year or two, or five, I've gotten my 15 and 77 barlows, fremont, esky and presidential NWs, 47, 74s...Oh and a handful of Joonas Kallioniemi puukkos.

But I'm still buying? No grails left though, which oddly seems to make it easier to buy more, no one item out there to fixate on.

I recently scored both of my grail knives, the two GEC #53 stockman patterns that they only made 2 each of, completing my set. Now I'm kind of just in limbo. I do have a couple of custom fixed blades that I occasionally dream about, though . . . .

Thanks! He really was a fine gentleman, I came to learn. And a funny individual. I feel more privileged now to have actually known him than to own a hundred of his knives. I do have something tangible from him, not a custom knife, but it rides in the custom drawer since he rebuilt it. Still rather chat with him though. So many people where so much closer to him, I feel guilty when I talk about it. Sorry if I kinda went off the rails a bit. Lol
Don't be, it's always good to share and cherish memories. I appreciate it :)

Maybe grail means something different to different people. In my mind grail is that singular knife that makes my other knives irrelevant. It would be the one I keep in my pocket and I’d sell the rest to y’all (at cost of course) but I can’t think of any knife that fits that description...yet.

And because posts without photos are useless here’s my tomato:0C936EDD-4CD9-4326-9FF4-84B823771164.jpeg

A true grail knife would be something by Tony Bose. Enrique Pena has made some incredible multi-blade traditionals in the past that are just beauties. Lately I have been totally taken in by Don Hanson trappers with some of that oldass rag micarta.

Northwoods Bear lake in sambar stag. Loved that knife from the 1st pic I saw of one but to late for the drop, always liked the sleeveboard patterns.

There is absolutely nothing precluding you from carrying and using that knife in California.
