What's your latest BUCK?

You've seen this, but it is my latest. I've got plenty of Bucks now, so I'm focusing on special things and won't be posting as much. I just wish DY and WBC would collaborate on BCCI knives every few months ;):D
How 'bout a wolf, an orca, a salmon... (wishful thinking)

Yes, wolfshund, why not?!?!
Nice knife!!

I'm just having fun with ya, I know you leave the patina on your knives ... Roger

DSS, of course, i noticed it ;). And that's a good idea: Calming polishing in front of the TV. I'll try it out.

My latest is a 112

The knife is clean and sharp and is a perfect user.

Buck Quickfire. I wanted a onehander with a mid or backlock and ran across this one at Dick's. Small, well made, sharp and safe to carry.

I picked up a pair at last week's factory sale.

Buck Vantage Avid, each, 1.
Buck Revel (yellow), each, 1.

Week before that, ordered two Paperstone Rangers which arrived last week.

So that's four, total.

Pictures when my camera and I are on speaking terms. Yes, and the two Paperstone Rangers, too.

What's your latest BUCK?[/IMG]

Nothing fancy. A yellow 301, which I ended up giving to a friend. Shocked me silly when he started to cry. (men in their 60's don't usually do that.) Turned out that both his grandfathers who had helped raise him had had yellow handled knives and holding that knife in his hand had brought back a rush of memories of them.

That yeller. It's powerful stuff. Be careful with it.

Some eye candy and great functional tools from Buck, for sure! I usually tote an old Esquire. Enjoy lookin' tho.

I just unboxed this nice Alpha Dorado 271 with a 154CM blade and a cool Kershaw(made in the USA!). They came from a BF member on the Sale Forum...what a great place!

I love the Dorado, I picked up one from a BPS with a cpm-154 blade and Bos HT.

What Kershaw is that? I like the looks.

Retired my faithful 102 which I have had since the late '70s...nothing wrong with it...I discovered nostalgia and sentiment were preventing me from carrying it often. It spent more time on the shelf than in the field.

So via the popular auction site, I found a used but very clean 102 (same era as my original) that will accompany in the outdoors. Nothing special, but a well made, well cared for knife. Little sharpening for the blade, some mink oil for the sheath, and it will be ready for business.

My most recent Buck purchase is also a #102. I bought it after reading in a new book , given to me by an Alaskan friend, that it is the author's go-to knife. The book is "The Manual for Successful Hunters", by Alaskan guide Tony Russ. I just don't care for the current sheath design, so I picked up an older flap type sheath for it on Ebay.

Jeff, that's interesting...I got my original 102 in AK, and used it for years there, never let me done. Not too big, not too small, very reliable.

Also, I prefer the old sheath myself. When I was looking to replace my old 102, the sheath design helped me make the decision of ordering a new knife or looking for an old one. Like the fold-over top (I'm sure there is a more proper phrase)...simpler, and even if it is not snapped, the knife is sitting deep enough in the sheath as to not fall out.

Today on my lunch break, I was reading the "I'm feeling a little lighter" thread, and it reminded me of a Buck I used to have some years back... it was an orange 424 (version 2... one piece handle, lanyard hole), and it used to go with me everywhere: fishing trips, hunting, bike riding, to the beach... It was my summertime Buck, because of its light weight and impervious-to-whatever-I-might-get-into constitution. That little orange guy
After I finished combing the hundred-odd photos of all the variations, colors, etchings, etc. that you guys posted, I had an urge to reconnect with my old friend, and started wondering exactly how long it's been since we spent any quality time together. As soon as I got home, I headed for the back room and dug out my old frame pack, thinking "I must have left it in here." Nope, no dice. Then, to the tackle box.... Yes? (.........) Nah, not there either. At the bottom of the rucksack? No. In the toolbox? Nuh-uh. In the drawer with the others? No, sir.
A long, fruitless mission.
So what happened?
Bought one.
Cruised fleabay, and found a guy who had 8 of 'em for sale. Same orange one-piece handle, same smooooooth curves, same hard, determined "Buck" stamped at the base of the expertly ground blade... Couldn't help myself. Price was alright, too!
So, soon "my latest Buck" will be here, ready to begin forging a new set of memories. I'll take some snapshots & post 'em. :)
