What's your latest SAK?

Vic Spartan in black scales (next to a brand new Case Peanut)

IMG_1520.jpg

I always wanted to have a Vic Spartan with black scales. Gives the knives a real classy gentlemans-knife-like style.

A Spartan is always a great piece to have... :)

Kind regards

Thank you Ash!

I always wanted a black handled Vic (beside my black Classic). The Spartan is a great knife, imo. The Climber is alright, but a little too bulky, because of its three layers. So I chose the Spartan. The Compact doesn´t have a secondary blade (which I prefer before the scissors). So this one got my choice :)

Kind regards
Andi

Just picked up a Pioneer Harvester from the mailbox today, I will be doing a review here soon!

I think that I have a new favorite outdoors blade out of my collection, including fixed blades. All I need is my axe and this guy and I can do anything!

I want one of those SO BADLY. I've come close to ordering one over and over, but have not yet.

I think it would be safe for me to say that I would recommend this guy.

I'll touch more on it in my review, but it has been really good for woods tasks when I practiced today out back, and it makes a darn good EDC for me: The hawkbill is great for clamshell packaging, the saw was used to take off an old axe handle for rehafting (something I do quite frequently), the large pen blade is just as amazing as any other Vic...

^^That is all of the EDC stuff for today, but the awl throws an incredible shower of sparks on my misch-metal firesteel, the large pen makes sweet fuzzies and works well (even with the mediocre factory edge), the saw harvests small branches quickly and aides in breaking larger pieces up if you don't have a chopper, the pruner makes short work of harvesting bark for tinder...It is perfect for any bushcrafter or average outdoors nut.

In short, go ahead and get one, why not? :D

The harvester don't have a keyring does it?

No, and that is one thing that I love and hate. From a comfort standpoint, the absence of a keyring makes it MUCH more comfortable to use. It also has a certain elegance to it that models with keyrings cannot say; it is just sleeker.

From a security point of view, it sucks, because I usually have my SAK's on a lanyard clipped to my belt that I can tug on, unclip the knife and I am good to go. I mean, it's not like I am going to lose it, but it is peace of mind having your SAK clipped on your person.

Basically, because it has no keyring, it is different...but I like it!

Yea I know what you mean. I like to also clip my sak lanyard loop around my belt and let my knife dangle in my pocket, then when I need it I pull it out unhook it and do as needed.

Found me a Vic Alox Solo at Freeport Knife and Kitchenware in Freeport, ME last week while I was on vacation. They also had a Tinker with the yellow Gadsden flag scales that I bought as well, just don't have pics of it yet.

I have a question. My perfect SAK would be a Tinker with a wood saw, I have carried the original Tinker since 1985 and that is the only thing I would add or change. Have I missed the Tinker that has a saw or is that just my hope for an improved SAK.

I would suggest a huntsman for you then. Its what you would need to add the saw.
