What's your rig to get out there?

I'm fortunate to have a few choices (2x4 camping van, full size 4x4 p/u, and a Lexus Land Cruiser). My main choice these days is the LLC. Pretty much goes anywhere the other two rigs couldn't dream of getting to. Hauls stuff and makes a great base camp.

It's a 2002 I bought used at the end of 2009. Just a great rig with no compromises other than it doesn't get 30 MPG.

Nothing like a well outfitted pooch to take you back to the inaccessible places! :D

I drive a 2000 standard cab ford ranger. Its my go to rig since I bought it new in nov. 99. Been using my roadbike a bit, gsxr 600, to take roadtrips and carrying a backpack along to camp on the way.

When I need to go off-road, 2007 Land Rover LR3. I've never driven a more comfortable car and it does some crazy stuff off-road:

I want a vehicle that even if it does get a dent or two, it will only add to it's rugged look. I wouldn't even want any of the new vehicles on the market...they don't look rugged enough. Sure they look good when they're all shiney and new...too fancy, too pretty almost, but get a couple dents in one and they lose their appeal for me.

ahhh, the fj40. one of the most legendary off road vehicles ever made. i'd love one too :D

I sure wish they still made these original ones...the newer FJ Cruisers are just not the same.:( They're too "pretty" looking compared to the rugged oldschool ones. It's kinda like the difference between the original Hummer and the newer version Hummers...The original ones had that really rugged army vehicle look to them, the newer ones are all shiney with chome and just look like yuppy vehicles. Like taking Conan the Barbarian and giving him makeup and a pedicure.

I get 'there' in my old 1988 Toyota 4Runner. Over 268,000 miles, and bullet proof.
Recently, I had it in mud/water over three feet deep, and it just pulled right through.

Until I find a buyer.

Nice Jeep...I wish I could buy it. I love those.

My "rig" is a 03 VW Golf...Good mpg, as I drive an hour to and from work, and all over for biking, hikes, and shooting.

Im starting to look for a 4x4 though, just for a toy. Id like an old International Scout or something....

Just bought a 2010 Jeep Wrangler ( 4 dr.) Just to get out there. My first 4/4 , and I love it. The 2dr. was a nix, because it holds hardly any gear. Pics coming when I find the wife's camera.

My survivor - 2000 Toyota 4Runner Sport
I made the choice yesterday resign the 4Runner as my trail truck and buy a 4x4 quad to use for driving the trails.

2001 GMC Yukon Denali - great for packing the kids, luggage, dog and still making it up that hill without breaking a sweat.....
