What's your rig to get out there?

El cherokee. A modest 4.5 lift with 32 swampers (30 road tires for long trips).
4 100 W on front (snake hunting), 55 on back (snake hunting/camping) Skid plates, differential guard, Locker on order, Arb bumper, etc.

And for around town, mpg (not the turbo version, grandma version) long trips, everything else, Subaru Impreza:

with off road 100 watt lights on front (snake hunting) and 55 on back (snake hunting/ camping) , dunlop winter sport 3d tires (awesome on road, sand, and snow!)and skid plates on the bottom.

Brians, that Grand Wagoneer is sick! I love those things.

The Subies are great too but just a bit small for me. I like that I can fit in the back of my rig to sleep if need be. And a Land Cruise is pretty much a no-compromise rig; it'll get you there and back with little to no drama. I don't wheel, I walk when I get to the cool places.

It's all good on how you get there but I've been curious what some of your rigs are.

I drive a 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser diesel. BJ40.
It's got ARB lockers fore and aft and 29.5 by 9.50 Maxxis Buckshot mudders.
I made an inch and a half lift for it.
28 to 30 MPG. Maximum velocity. 83KM/hr. About 57 mph.:D

My ride is a 2008 Subaru Outback. Perfect mix of outdoor ability plus town ability.

yeah subarus are pretty practical
running a 2000 forester right now and enjoying it
its not an overly aggressive machine
but it'll take me as far as i wanna go in a vehicle
the rest i can do on my own two feet
and it does get 30 mpg hiway
a tad less in town

mine's starting to get a little long in the tooth, 92 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 (100k) and the gas mileage is far from swell :)

but it does do a good job of getting me there (and maybe more importantly back! :D)

small Rancho lift, 34" tires, skid plates galore- no electric winch, but I have two of the "more power pullers" w/ a extra 25' choker of cable, little more work than an electric winch, but in a pinch they've worked great

Some cool rides fellas. Mine is an 09 Tacoma 4X4 TRD Off Road. Electronic push button locker, ATRAC, oil and tranny coolers, skid plates, AC inverter, all from the factory. On the 09s and 10s you can engage the locker and ATRAC at the same time in 4 low. VVTi engine pulls any of my boats with no problem. It goes places my buddies full size trucks can't, even with lifts and tires. And it will out accelerate any of their V-8s, except for one of em's 5.7 Tundra. Still has room for four adults and gear.

Sorry, that was just my personal opinion.... I am not saying the new Hummers are not nice vehicles....They're really nice, almost too nice.

I suspect yours doesn't look like this...This is really the kind I'm talking about. It just looks :barf::barf::barf: and I would gladly drive it off a cliff if I could get my hands on that nice red Jeep Cherokee someone on here wanted to sell.

NO...i dont drive a ghetto'd out h3. mine is victory red (cant lose that one in the woods). It has the chrome package...but not those silly 20"'s Can climb a 90 deg angle i think. not a bad lil ride for what i paid for it. ($17k w/ less than 20k miles, when the gas was $4/gall). I wanted to replace my silverado w/ another silverado...but those were around 28k  and that was w/out the 4x4 package...add another 5-10k for that ...soooo....i said..WTF...lets go fancy smancy :D

I just don't know why people pimp them out and put those stupid looking rims on em. I think if I got one though, I would go with a nice flat green...like an army green color, but the red looks pretty good too. I still like the way the old ones look though, but they're a little too much $$$$ for me.:D

Yes but w/ the factory chromed aluminum wheels..that was one of my things. i didnt want that stupid gangster look...dumb. the chrome is kinda richey boy looking..but i assure you im not and it is just a facade for the ol girl as she tears up some dirt :D My wife digs red...soooo...you know how that goes :) i woulda loved an OD or Black one myself but...again...ya know... there are deals to be had bro... look at what i paid. and..i think they might be a collector item in the future as the brand has gone belly up...

also, my bumper and nerfs are chromed...well..dirty chromed right now d/t mud :D My wife says we have a kid hauler/wilderness getaway car and a straight up getaway car (she drives a 2010 camaro in ...wait for it...wait for it...victory red...I had my truck first tho!)

in OK we have that orangy red clay...looks great IMO! I dont wash her unless i have a client visit or the mrs asks...like that rugged look.. :)

For us its a Toyota Sequoia...probably towing a 25' Airstream Trailer, like this weekend.
