Whats your road trip knife ?

I carry a Swiss Army Work Champ as my EDC. In the console I have a Mora Companion. In the glove box, a Swiss Super Tinker. On my tool bag I have a CKRT Pazoda. In my backpack, I will have a Ghormann #1 and an Esee 4.

Spyderco manix 2 lightweight my EDC knife and my only knife that sees the outside world my CKRT FD just sits in my room.

I say victorinox one hand trekker with a swiss bianco pocket clip upgrade. Unless you're going to dangerous places in which case I'd say crkt ignitor

Just took a week to drive from Massachusetts to Arizona recently. I carried my usual edc of an SAK pioneer variant along with a large folder (benchmade contego at the time).

In a backpack I also had my leatherman wave and bark river Canadian special. Each tool came in handy.

There's a lot of variables, but the short answer is the CRKT Desert Cruiser that a friend gifted me a while back. Personally I'd like to have a flipper with a slimmer grip and tougher steel, but all in due time.

Road trip to me means car or truck, some sort of automobile. So more than one option.

Emerson Wave CQC8 for sure in rt front pocket always.

ESEE 4/Preon AAA flashlight/Ti Leatherman Charge/firestarter combo just in case in the center console. Maxpedition pouch holding that stuff is attached to the front of the ESEE kydex sheath. Nice handy unit, and compact.

A CRK in the left pocket, either Micarta Sebenza or Umnumzaan. Probably the Umnumzaan.

Last but not least: Surefire E2D Defender Ultra 500 lumen flashlight with spare batteries. Always bringing that.

Ready for pretty much anything at that point. SORTED!

A folder in my pocket, a Mora in the door, and something heavy like an Ontario Ranger knife in the trunk in case I need to break something.

My last 2 week solo road trip through Namibia (2011) - ancient Leatherman PST in the glove box, SAK Pioneer in a pocket, Griptillian nearby and a hand axe under the drivers' seat.

If I was doing it again ... the Leatherman has since been stolen and replaced with a Swisstool. The knives wouldn't need to change but I'd probably take a Sebenza just to give it a real world experience and the axe is still under the drivers' seat.

Bike road trip (650GS in South Africa and a CLX200 here in Mauritius) whatever is in my pocket and the Leatherman Juice that lives in my topbox.

When I travel, I carry a "manpurse" Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack that sits right behind the front passenger seat. In it, I carry a first aid kit, a pair of gloves, a large water bottle, a handgun, three magazines, as well as a fixed blade, a spare folder, a multitool, and multiple flashlights and batteries. In Florida, there are lots of sections of highway which, at night, are just miles long stretches of darkness. I make it a point to always be prepared. Have traveled with this gear for years, and have never needed it (knock on wood). But if I ever find myself broken down, I'll be ready.

Fixed if run with the MIL spie great small fixed blade capable of really any task.
For a folder I take my Dendra Tiger Jump, because who cares if you lose a piece of shit like that?

Pocket : a Zaan and a flashlight

Bag : ESEE 4, a Kershaw Piston for things I don't want to cut with my Zaan , Victorinox Nomad, backup flashlight
