All you knife collectors out there, do you specialize in any particular type of knife for collecting? (ex. folders, fixed, custom, production, limited editions, etc., etc.)

Why?

BK

Titanium handled intergral lock folders, focusing on Chris Reeve. The best knives I have found for my tastes and needs.

My collection focus is high-end full sized (6.0"+) fixed blade survial and tactical knives by production knife companies (Mission, Busse, Cold Steel, etc....)

Modern folders for combat.

A very humble collection so far, one G-10 Civilian and a (grey) Matriarch on their way, oh, and a black L-UDT. Next in line are probably a late black knife from Ox forge. Or an original if some cash starts to flow in my direction (unless I can get a nice price on a Sinn EZM watch).

I'm pretty much into REKAT folders, and Cold Steel fixed-blades, with Buck, Spyderco, Camillus and Ontario tossed-in "here and there".:)..

Balisongs; medium sized, one hand open/close folders with pocket clips (not necessarily "tactical"); and my new addiction, Microtechs!

My focus is essentially high-end production and custom folders with a bias toward the tactical/utility variety.

Why? Probably because of the ease of carry. I like to keep my toys close at hand.

Folders all the way.

I don't know I think of my knife buying as collecting, but it just seems to have worked into an obsession from the quest for “that perfect knife”. I grew up with a pocketknife on my person from as far back as I can remember so I am pretty much into folders. I have a few fixed blades, but my buying/collecting habits are towards folders of various styles.

BIG quality tactical folders such as Ryan Biohazards, Szabo RAD, Farid T1000, Strider Custom Folders, etc.

I specialize in Stag, prduction, handmade and customs. Fixed blades; Bowies, Fighters, Daggers, Hunters, Skinners, Neck knives. Folders; Slip-joints, Lockbacks, Linerlocks. :)

Mainly, 2-bladed Doctor's pattern traditionals (no spatulas, please);
and serrated Spydercos - love that SpyderEdge. These two knives, in
varying sizes and models, make excellent EDCs. Oh, and I prefer the
slip-joints from Queen Cutlery.

I can't seem to get away from Spydercos. I want to expand my horizons, but am so undecided on which direction to go. I like serrated high end folders, mostly.

My specialty is a little bit broad. I have many Case Trappers, quality fixed blades, almost anything stag, and getting more quality tactical folders.
