The Kris belonged to my Uncle who came to the US in the 1920's. The bolo I found at a flea market in Stockton, CA. It was in a pile on a table and when I saw the carabao horn, I knew I was on to something more than a tourist piece.

Yeh, those kinda looked familiar to me.Very purpose driven. Thanks.

A zombie apocalypse is a hypotherical "survival" scenario. It's just a probable as many other "survival" scenarios, so people like to discuss it.

And....zombies are cool.

Uh the above was started as a thread in General. It was merged into this thread.

I see heaps of knives in this thread, its just for fun...zombie movie culture is large and fun to discuss. :D

i see plenty of knives and cutlery in this thread, so its not entirely devoid of knives, though there is the occasional firearm and misc column

Yup there are plenty of knives in this thread. Non in the merged thread which was not knife related at all.

What was the purpose of having the blade shape in that waved pattern ?

The top one.

Some theories suggest that the wavy blade design was meant to inflict more severe wounds. The kris is a stabbing weapon and the wavy blades are supposed to severe more blood vessels and create wider wound channels. Possibly in the way a recurve excels in pull cuts but with a few more "curves".

I was on my way to the WTS when I saw this thread. I posted it elsewhere, but it's still fun.

Et,

That's a Indo/Malay/Philippines inspired blade. It has the Kris appeal and like Singularity35 said, it's meant to introduce larger wound with in and out.
There's plenty of folklore behind this mystical blade i won't even go through it.

Like most tribal spears, some Kris had been coated with frog poison for that lethal stab. Kris are treated with ultimate scarcity here.

Heh, thanks!
It's crudely made club I made out of birch (piece of firewood in fact). Made basic shape for it with bigger knife, and then carved and finished it with some scandi I had. Burnt the wood with blowtorch, and hammered some nails to it and sawed the ends off with metal saw. Then I finally added some hockey tape for the handle for extra grip and look.
It's quite amusement (was giggling like "what the hell am I doing?" when made it) but perhaps not the best conversionstarter for total strangers, not to mention dates. :D
