Wheeler Proto Fighter Update Thread

black G10 for me....as much as I like wood/ivory handles...this one "just looks right' in black G10:cool:

Roger et al,

good news...since Nick ran out of the pink giraffe bone, I sent him a box full yesterday, along with some bright green, blue and purple :p

Oh.....there might have been some Other stuff in there as well....

Is it possible to stack pieces of bone? Pink, purple, green, pink, purple, green...........;):D

Just unwrapped a package from Coop and LO and BEHOLD, the Proto is here! It does have Wheeler's name on it, but there is no way in hell he let one this rough out of his shop.

Just kidding, but Paranee will Sh*t when he reads that.

This thing is pure sweet and mean. Not a light weight knife but handles like a feather. Great feeling handle, and for those who are Hamon
addicted, this one has a really pretty one on both sides just begging to be let out. Differential heat at it's best.

Balance??? does it and where??? Photos below ....judge for yourself. I think those of you who got 'em will love them.

Paul

Thanks Pappy I will be expecting pics of the sheaths any minute

Seriously this goes to show a blade with that kind of thickness at the guard combined with radical

Distal taper can feel amazingly light and still have some mass

This translates to speed and power.

On a Fighting Bowie I prefer it balances about an inch in front of the guard but on a pure breed fighter like this a tad in front of the guard means it's gonna be fast real fast

This is greatness thanks Paul

Btw this knife will be at the gathering in Vegas in a few weeks anyone wanna see it just tap me on the shoulder just do it real slow :)

Looks like something music should play from...

Well, boys and girls, I got the Proto yesterday from Coop and this is the result today as pictured below.

Disclaimer: Please do not prejudge my future work by these two butt ugly Mall Ninja sheaths!!!!!

Seriously, Joe ask for some hard use sheaths this time. The scout carry is the third one I've done for Joe and so far the reports are good as to
function and durability. The sash carry is just the same old thing toned down a bit for constant carry and daily use. Both are made to be
tough enough for extreme hard use.

Both styles will be available at your leisure (those who got a knife and may want a sheath) and can be in any of the colors I work with and with
Inlays and tooling to suit your fancy.......or not.

Paul

Edit: It's worth an additional mention here, that I do not make those fancy studs. They are provided by either the customer or the maker. If you would like
a similar stud....you are on your own. They do need to be drilled and tapped for 8/32 screw. I have hundreds of the standard Sam Browne studs.

"Butt-ugly" my butt!!! Those are great looking sheaths, as always, Paul! Man, this knife just gets better and better!

Outstanding sheath work, Paul--beautifully sleek form and finish and ready for no-nonsense function.

The sheaths could not be more perfect

Thanks buddy

I can't state how important the right type of sheath Is

Quality of construction and durability are paramount to a sheath that is going to be used

A good sheath should last along time with regular maintence even if it sees regular use

Pauls stuff does wear very well

I find it funny that he is known for his fancy work when in reality he builds one of the toughest sheaths around period

These sheaths although plain are my idea of true quality and practicality

Like a quality holster they should last a lifetime

When I get them I will photograph them being worn

Thnks Paul

The knife and sheath are both wonderful! Sweet combination and I very much think they achieve your goal of great function and durability with Nick's classy look.

Cordially,
Eric
