Wheeler's Steel- The Adventure Continues!

Dude, I've watched some of your vids and I can't quite understand what you're doing out there in the boonies, hacking away at the bushes. I hate to say it, but you dont seem to be making much headway. :D

tell me about it!
there's an unending supply of bushes it seems...(great for testing knives tho)

but it's all going to a good cause! I have a trail in the making that I've been working on for two years now, and it's finally nearing completion. Another 40-60 hours worth of work and it will be good to go. Then I'll put up some videos of 'forward progress':D:D:D

It must be awesome to live so close to untouched wilderness. Got many critters running around in that?

lots of critters indeed.
I don't go out of my way to disturb the bears, but it's pretty impressive watching them climb a tree at speed. Cougars are out there too, but I've only seen them once in a blue moon. I'm convinced I can sometimes feel their presence- all my hairs stand on end. I routinely sneak up on deer. Hunting them is fun, sometimes you can get pretty close.
It's always a relief to find deer scat when I'm exploring new areas. It's freaky when you travel a game trail that's worn in, and you stumble across cougar scat...
The forest animals around here are pretty timid still. There are wolves and elk further up in the hills- the area I work in is bounded by a road and a growing amount of development, so neither wolves nor elk.
I see more animals like deer and bears hanging out in the burbs than I do in the woods. Sooke is a rapidly developing town in a rainforest environment and lots of animals are being displaced. It's quite sad, in many ways.
