I think it would be interesting to see what made people finally make the decision to join the CRK family.
Did something inspire you? Did you just hear good things? What??? :D
Maybe you even saw a picture of a CRK that just clicked for you. And more importantly what did you consider when you ordered like size, inlays, graphics?
By all means post about your yum-yums and fixed blades, all are welcome not just Sebenzas...:thumbup: People choose their knives for many different reasons, and these decisions can be helpful for future buyers. So post whatever made you make the decision.

i first saw a crk some time in 2002, a large green beret. i had never heard of the company, but instantly decided i needed that knife. especially after handling it.

within 6 months, i bought the gb, a neil roberts, and large and small classic sebenzas.

those knives have since moved on to new owners, but there has always been a family member within my collection.

i have owned several one piece knives as well. i have been on the fence regarding a mnandi for a couple years. im sure ill pick one up eventually.

Thats awesome! I am considering getting a small or large 21. I had to go and post a whole forum and see what people think about it to make the decision.

When I first saw the Classic wood inlay sebbies..............

Got a few of them now :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

When I got my first Sebbie in the '90's. I got it from Nordic Knives in Solvang, CA. I had read about them, and this was the first time I saw one in person. I have been hooked ever since then.

I think you can't beat the small Sebenza as an EDC knife and I have since I bought a Sebenza in 2008, so I am a recent convert. I first bought one because it was a progression of wanting more and more from a knife and that lead to the sebenza. It was the sum of everything I came to want in a everyday pocket knife.

But there is also something great about a large sebenza. Almost how some people call a Winchester Model 70 a "rifleman's rifle" , the sebenza is a cutler's cutlery.

I picked mine up this summer. So my large 21 is fairly new. Since joining the forums here (2006?) i have really liked the sebenza. I jst found the to be a but steep in terms of price.

This summer I decided to pick one up simply because I was tired of my current edc and the sebenza has everything I want in a knife. I love the blade shape of the seb 21. I find it perfect for me. Second I really like titanium. I love its color, feel everything about it. Next, I just love the idea of the pivot bushing. Blade play drives me nuts so this was the final feature that got me on board. And now I got my large 21--my grail knife

I first got into CRK because of the informed members on this forum. I only have one Fixed blade CRK...I got sucked into Busse for that:p

Why do I continue to buy CRK?

Sebenza:

Thin hollow ground blade
Very corrosion resistant
pins and screws to assemble (no screws into the handles....)
Spacers to provide perfect assembly and function
perfect lockup - no blade play - every time!
Simple NO BS design
Easy as crud to sharpen
I can pull it out without everyone thinking I am going to murder them...
Easy to maintain
Perfectly centered blade
All titanium

So basically it is the design mostly but without the fit and finish it would not be as good as it is.

Why I like CRK? Incredible Fit and Finish, Customer Service and IMHO superior design (For what I look for):)

I have been into knives for awhile, but never been able to pull the trigger because of the price. Mostly stuck to benchmades, spyderco's and a few other brands. My most expensive knife was probably around the $250 dollar mark. Well 3 - 4 days ago I just had enough...after hearing people praise it, seeing pictures I finally had to see what all the fuss was about so I ordered a large 21 w/ micarta inlay. I thought about going plain and saving a few bucks but hey, I might as well get one that appeals to me even more.

Bad news is, it has not arrived yet, I am in Canada and ordered from the USA so it will probably be a week or two, maybe more depending on customs but I am stoked to try this puppy out!!!

I like the design of the large Sebenza. Only wish it had a spyderco hole instead of the thumbstud. I like the made for disassembly design and the tight machining on the lockup. Almost got one in the last sale but the guy ended the sale before I decided which one to buy. snooze, lose, etc.

I have been in that store several times. But i did'nt know about the sebenza back then.

I got into CRK this year. My girlfriend bought me a Small Regular that was converted to D/A by Butch Vallotton. Once I had it in my hand I fell in love with CRK. Since then I bought a Small 21, a Large Classic 2000, a Large 21, a Large Regular (which is currently with Matt Cucchiara so he can work his magic on it), and an Umnum. Next up is a Mnandi. I'd also like to send the Large 21 to Butch Vallotton for another conversion. If I have a small D/A Seb of course I need a Large D/A Seb!

my impressions of the sebenza continue to grow and improve.

when i got my first, i liked it, but didn't truly appreciate the marvel of engineering i now believe it to be.

simple and elegant, it is the standard by which i measure other folders.

I'd always admired the quality of CRK but never got one until I traded for a Mnandi a few years ago. Even though I ended up selling it because I just didn't have occasion to carry it, I still think it's the perfect gent's knife.

After getting my Umnumzaan last week I am really happy to be back in the CRK fold, as it were. Just a flat out great knife.

Ive got my first sebenza back in 2003, it was my first serious knife. I bought mine because of perfect fit and finish. I carried it for years. I think the sebenza is alot of peoples first high end knife.Ive moved on since my first sebenza but i remember how exciting it was to be walking around with a 330.00 knife in my pocket. :D

Funny thing is i havent had a sebenza in years, but once you join the family seems like you never really leave. I still come back every week just to read this forum.

I wanted to make my first premium knife purchase and I had been drooling over the carbon fiber William Henry knives. This was back in 2003-2004. There was a really great knife store in Altamonte Springs, FL called Knives-a-lot which is now gone (What happened Steve?).

I was so close to buying a WH when Steve showed me a small regular Seb that was in his pocket. It was heavily used and reground so many times that it should have been retired or gotten a new blade long before. Then he showed me a new one in the case, and explained what made it so good. I said, "So for $300 this is as good as it gets?" he said "Yup" and I was sold. And I remember that it had the experimental larger thumb grooves on the blade and the lateral grooves on the edge of the titanium handles. I'd pay double to get that knife back in my hands! Wish I had known better and never let it go.

Since then I've had countless CRK knives in and out of my possession. But if I close my eyes and think about that day a lot of good feelings come back that I don't seem to have with any knife anymore, let alone anything else. The Sebenza was my grail knife back then, don't think any could top that initial pride of ownership.

One of my friends pulled me into a knife sharpening seminar given by Chris at Moon's Cafe in downtown Boise, around 1989. (BTW, Moon's Cafe used to have a retail knife shop at the entrance, and great food in the back -- way cool place!) I was a young kid, not many years out of engineering school, asking a lot of questions of Chris that now seem pretty stupid . . . :o. Chris graciously humored me, patiently answering. From then, I was hooked on CRK products.

The Sebenza was just starting to go into production in mid-1991, and my 1st Sebenza was large P184, born on 2/17/1992. It's been a great ride, and a real pleasure being one of the older members of the Sebenza family.
