When did you get bitten by Spyderco? aka become a Spydienut

The first Spydie I bought was Salt 1 PE for a friend. I was so impressed with the quality I needed a Spyderco. Got me a Manix 2 at a gun show two weeks later, been wanting more since.

I picked up a Tenacious on sale last fall. I'd been hearing good things about it, and at that price I had to try it. I was immediately hooked. Then blade shape, Spydie hole and ruggedness had me sold. In January I upgraded to a Sage 2. I'm good for now, I've got a beater and a nice EDC. But I'm looking at the mules, great shape and a chance for a little DIY.

About six or seven years ago i bought a original style Manix pretty mutch got the bug after that knife, before that i was not all that impressed by them, but once i got my hands on that, one they grew on me in a big way.

First time I came across a spydercco was in '92 when a co-worker (and EMT student) was breaking down boxes with a Delica. I thought it was strange looking, but handled it, used it, and found it to be very nice. Still, It never "sang" to me and admittedly I was young and fully embracing the up and coming "tactical knife" scene.

Through the years I have looked over Spyderco offerings fully aware of their great reputation and abilities, but most offerings just flat out didn't appeal to me in any form or fashion.

It wasn't until last year when I purchased a Spyderco Chicago when I realized that I was very close to finding my ideal folder. Not too long after that I purchased a Paramilitary 2 and have been in folder heaven ever since. There's no "perfect knife", but it comes closer than any other I found for me. Of course, that is not gonna stop me from buying the Sage 2 and other models!

BTW: It's this forum and it's enablers that are at fault! :p

My first Spyderco was a late 80s generation Sharpmaker, which I bought from Sal at a knife show. Later, I bought a Worker, then a Hunter, Co-Pilot, Gen1 Delica, all three of the original Terzuolas, and all three of the original Goddards. It was downhill from there. Have almost a 100 now, counting mules and kitchen knives...

It might have started with the Cricket about ten years ago, but things really went downhill after the ZDP Caly 3. My first two high end knives were from Kershaw and Benchmade (back in the M-2 days), but once Spyderco got ZDP in the regular lineup and started putting out S90V on a regular basis (about once a year it seems), the others didn't stand a chance.

Five years ago, when I decided to have a knife for edc, I got a Benchmade Griptilian. Not too long after that, I realized that it was too big for my office/city edc and started finding the new one. That brought me to meet Spyderco.

My first Spyderco is the Native which I liked it very much. Soon it was followed by a Caly3 which I used it for my edc for a long time until I was interested in 'Traditional Folders' and got a few of them.

But finally, I found that Spyderco when compare to other kinves, very easy to carry and has no problem at all. I do not find any problems; blade play, off-center, sticky lock, etc like I find on my other folders (even the more expensive one still has off-center blade).

That's why I choose a Delica FFG for my edc now. With DPX 2.0 folder (very solid but a bit sticky lock) in my backpack as a back up. The rest are in the drawer.

if anyone releases a carbon fiber one I'm all over it. And to be honest I may grab a black/black one at the next saxet show.

Man I can never find any good knives at the Saxet gun show here in the ATX. I always go there hoping to see someone who doesnt know what they have selling an S90V PM2 for a cheap price :)

My first Spyderco was a Tenacious. But it wasnt until I got the Military next when I got the bug. Now the PM2 is my perfect EDC/favorite knife and I need just the S90v to have all the sprints (including the 204P and XHP ones I have on preorder). My Mission is to collect all the sprint options of the PM2 and Military and I'll be happy

My first Spyderco was this C05, purchased some time in the mid 80s. Been a fan ever since.

for me, it was before i owned one. first there was this movie of catherine zeta-jones stealing a prized painting by cutting the canvass at the edge with a spydey. there followed dr. brady barr about to release a captured croc by cutting the duck tape around the croc's snout. both used serrated.

A guy I worked with in the mid 90s dad was a highway patrolman and he had a Police. My buddy was always talking
about Spydercos and brought his dad's knife to the fire station one shift. After checking it out I had to have a Spyderco
and bought a native in 97 I believe.

i was just bitten last thursday by an endura 4 wave i love this knife. the frn handle is pretty good i like it a lot better than i though ti would. i plan on buying a delcia 4 or a sage 3 soon as i can

My little brother would always look at knives online. I'd always make fun of him thinking knives were lame, especially compaired to my hobbie of shooting and collecting guns. Last Christmas he bought me a Tenacious. 4 months and 10 spydies later, who's the lame one now? ;)

My first one was a G-10 Rookie sometime in the mid-90's. That's all it took. Next thing you know I was on eBay buying them like crazy.

Looking for a lefty-friendly EDC knife, I found the Poliwog back in 05-06. I was pretty much sold on quality and design from then on. Just recently I think I have been solidly bitten as I have now ordered a Manix 2 along with a SharpMaker. My long-standing quest to acquire a Dodo has almost come to an end. Future knives might include a Delica or Dragonfly.

Somewhere near 2002 I bought a discontinued G10 spyderco rookie on clearance from SMKW,I haven't looked back since.I still have the rookie,as a matter of fact I just got it back from a resharpening at spyderco, its as good as new except for the the way it looks. The paramilitary has become my edc,and has been for a long while.
