When do you not carry your knife.

I don't carry a knife into schools and the airport, in the shower, or when I'm sleeping, for the usual reasons. I also don't carry a knife when I'm attending martial arts classes because my uniform lacks pockets and contact with another person might cause injury.

.... So I clipped the knife behind my belt buckle inside my waistband. When I went through the metal detector it beeped and then they check you with the wand. Just my belt buckle sir. :D

I don't really think it's a good idea to tell people how to get a knife or what knife can get through a metal detector, there's enough crazy people here who never thought of it before who might try it, it makes it look bad for knife owners who obey the laws,(makes it look like we're conspiring to beat the system  ).

Besides anyone with half a brain already knows how to beat the systems. :D  and the other half shouldn't be carrying a knife into a club/courthouse/airport anyway.

I don't sleep with one or bathe with one. But if I'm dressed, I have one. Except parts of courthouses with metal detectors. (I don't fly.)

I've been strip searched at airports a few times - well not quite but I've had my pants unbuttoned and completely unzipped with arms out 180 deg. to each side. One time a guy made me stand that way while he walked away. My pants were falling down so I reached down to hold them up and he came back and told me to put my arms back out. Obviously he was f***ing with me......... as***** :grumpy:.

Whenever I'm dressed, I'll have a knife with me.

The only exceptions are places where It's likely to be confiscated (courthouse, police station, sheriff's department, amusement parks, airports).

Good luck,
Allen.

I'm without a knife only in the shower. Otherwise I always have a large Sebenza clipped on me. At work it's the Mnandi in African Blackwood. I've had very good results with my Mnandi at work, it's a truly fabulous little knife.

I don't carry my Ritter to clubs or other places where security would not allow it. I don't feel less safe because I consider my knife to be a tool primarily anyway.

Even if I had my knife with me and a bar brawl broke out, I'd grab a cue stick or barstool first. Reach advantage means so much. If I bumped into a bad guy in a dark rainy alley, I take a full size umbrella over a folding knife anyday.

and I don't go to places that try to forbid me from carrying.
For instance, I never have business in a courthouse so that's not a problem. I don't fly because I have no reason to. I don't go to bars or nightclubs so that's not an issue.

Theme parks that don't want me to come there while carrying my knives obvously don't want my money either so they don't get it. Places like Sea World, Busch Gardens and other socialist establishments run by the Anheuser Busch corp. will never see my dollars till they become a part of the USA again. It's my earnest prayer that many millions more see things that way. If An. Busch sees the error of their ways and take their noses outta my pockets, then that's just fine. If they go out of business over their tyrannical policies then that's fine too.  As you can see, I'm somewhat intolerant of people and companies trying to tell me when and what I can carry in the way of knives. With the exception of the law of the land of course. I guess my problem is intense dislike of some that try to impose their will on you like it's the law of the land which it's not.

Other than the shower and bed, I carry knives pretty much all the time and everywhere I go.

School
School supervised activites, on or off campus
Police station (go to ask questions, sometimes)
Government office buildings
Kalihi :D
Anywhere my dad tells me not to go with them
Airports
beach

I won't carry a knife where there might be metal detectors or anyplace I could get patted down.

I won't wear my knife to gentlemens' clubs because when I'm getting a lap dance... nevermind.

What if they can't get undressed? Are you going to pay to get a lapdance from a girl that still has an article of clothing on? Or are you take it off like a real man!? :D

I try to remember not to carry in the usual carry-unfriendly places: airport, fed buildings, schools, churches. I thought I didn't carry while sleeping, but recently had one of those dreams where you're out in public in your underwear :o , and there on the waistband of my boxers was my benchmade osborne....go figure.

I leave my EDC (BM710HSSR) at home when I help my wife shop for groceries for the local High School that she teaches food prep at. However I still have my little Victorinox Midnight Manager II on my key chain.

Kinda silly though, that I *MIGHT* get in trouble for carring a knife like the 710 into a school (not sure what the policy is, but I don't feel like taking a chance) when the school has a dozen 8" chef knives and dozens of other kitchen knives all over the room in their knife blocks ready for anyone to grab!

I'm actually surprised that they don't keep those things locked up. A kid can't bring a SAK to school, but he could swipe a kitchen knife on his way out of class and go to town. ?! I always love when they stick my wife's department with problematic students that have criminal records, because they don't know what else to do with them, and there they sit with big knives all around them.

It seems almost everyone on here has there favorite EDC. But I am curious as to when you guys don't carry a knife.

In the shower, In bed, (but there is a SAK swiss champ xlt in the nightstand) and when swimming.

Do you mean your chlldren's schools, or college? I carry my Camilus Dominator to class everyday at my community college, do you think its unappropriate?

I've taken knives to a community college, but not to highschool. I'm not sure of the rules there, but if I knew of the rules there, and they are against knives, I wouldn't take them. However, I read on a local highschool's website (not mine) that ignorance of the laws/rules is no excuse and you will be punished. So you can't say you didn't know.
