when do you start getting pissed off

was told a knife was shipping 3 weeks ago from a maker here-and i think he posted a pic with his wife holding it a week after it was supposed to ship-

still havent seen it and he isnt returning emails or answering his phone-

i like the guy and the last chat where he said he was shipping it he said the army was working him into the ground-
well i still think a 30 sec call saying it shipped or it didnt isnt too friggin much to ask-

if i dont hear from him in a day or 2 i will post a ugly so you guys can avoid him-
 
I start getting pissed the moment someone lies to me. I will give people a long leash for many reasons but if they tell me something like they shipped it but I find out they didn't, I get pissed right now! I really don't get upset if someone takes longer than they said, thing happen. It is when they think they can just lie to me and they have my money that I start feeling like a sucker.

I would post an ugly right now if the guy said he shipped it weeks ago and you saw a pic with his wife holding your knife! He is lying and I want to know who it is so I don't end up dealing with the man. That is what the GB&U is for. It is so we can warn each other about pitfalls. It is not to ruin someone's rep, it is to expose someone's rep. If you are a good guy, you want your rep exposed. If you are a bad or ugly guy, you dread this forums. As it should be!
 
Although unless the pic had a date on it he could have taken it at any time.
 
I've seen many photos posted by makers on this forum long after they had shipped the knife out.

I would imagine this is one of those damascus fighters, and if so, the maker was on Bladeforums yesterday. If he was on the forum, he should have been able to answer your email.
 
well i ordered it last summer and when i got it the guard was tipped or not straight enough for me i guess-so i sent it back and told him not to bump anyone to do another for me,i could wait till after the first of the year-
he was real good about keeping me informed-untill the last 3 weeks that is


the date of the post was a week after it was supposed to ship

i just called again and left a message i want my money back-i sent money when i say i do so i expect the same in return-

only excuse i will accept is a hospital type one

Hey "Rosconey" I feel your pain. Liars and rip offs tend to raise my blood pressure too :mad: I do have one last ditch suggestion though. Have you tried sending the guy a Certified letter through the US Post Office. And send it "Return Receipt Requested". The Postal clerk will know exactly what you mean.

By doing that you could stack up some serious charges against this guy if he doesn't respond soon. Mail Fraud is a Federal OFFENSE and it is not an easy charge to get out of if you have the evidence. Try the certified letter and please keep us posted. That would be the last ditch attempt I would try before I would pursue it in the legal system. But deliberately ignoring you is just inexcusable. And if he doesn't at least attempt to rectify this matter I do indeed want to know who this is. Good Luck SIR :)
 
I take it you were never in the Military? If the Maker is....there are MANY reasons he can't make contact as much as you would like. 3 weeks isn't that long and I don't think that slamming a maker here would be an appropriate response unless it is lies about the shipping, but just no contact, I would give him a bit more time.
 
right now all i want is my money back-
and 3 weeks is alot of time-he could have his wife call at least if you ask me-
and lies about shipping dont help the matter

This is an excellent idea. In fact I just went to the post office today to this very thing to another well known knife maker who after getting his money can no longer be contacted. :mad:

This is a little bit of info that may change things. You gave him the impression that you were in no hurry and now all of a sudden you are. I am not sure of all the facts of the case but whenever I have told someone that they can take as long as they want, they often do.

These custom makers are busy but the good ones will still keep in touch even if there is a delay. The best ones will actually fill their orders as well as have enough time to take care of repairs.

The way I judge a knife maker (or any company) is how they treat me AFTER they got my cash. If they make it clear that fixing a problem that should have been right in the first place is lower on their list than selling new knives, I am not happy.

I bought a custom knife second hand that had a slight problem. I knew the maker could make it good as new but I couldn't. I told him the facts and that I bought it used. All he asked for was for me to pay shipping both ways so he wouldn't be out any cash. I thought that was more than reasonable considering that he knew I was not the original buyer. He even got it back to me in about two weeks which I was very happy with all things considered.

That is how you handle a customer.
 
considering the transaction was cordial until three weeks ago, i would give him the benefit of the doubt.

you say your order was placed last summer? then three weeks is not very long considering it was originally placed 8-10 months ago.

perhaps it was shipped and has been lost?
 
its the fact i was told it shipped-dont you guys read a whole thread-

he was here last night online-yet he still cant call me or email and tell me if it shipped or didnt-
 
rosconey2 is right about that, if the maker can be online here, he obviously has the time and ability to communicate with his customer.

wtf is your problem-i WAS TOLD IT SHIPPED 3 WEEKS AGO-IT DIDNT

thats what pissed me off-all he had to do was return a call or email or use the bf pm-he did none of those-

so i sit for 3 weeks wondering if it was lost stolen or never shipped and have no idea-

and i posted the negative this am after i saw him online last night-yet he still hadnt returned a call,emailed or use the bf pm-


and i never once pushed for a date or anything to get the knife quicker-i have been very patient-just dont like being bullshited and ignored


and i got a email since i posted - ill believe it shipped when i see it in my hands-
 
Nice attitude. I was trying to help you and I was on your side. As you post more, I see that it was probably you that was the asshole in this situation. I don't know the other guy but I am willing to bet that he didn't deserve to be blindsided the way you just did.

You sound like a total jackass. I hope the fellow whose rep you are trashing is at least aware of what is going on so he can defend himself. I also don't see where you get off asking for your money back after all this time. When you deal with custom knife makers, you have to wait. That is the deal and you know it going in. If you want a knife right away, go to the store and buy one. If you want custom, you have to wait for it. Everybody knows that. It sounds like you have already wasted a lot of the maker's time and now you want your money back? If I was the maker, I would tell you to go jump in a lake.

Just because you post a neg comment here doesn't mean that you were wronged. People here can see both sides of most issues.

and to say i wasted a guys time is total bullshit again from you-my time was wasted waiting for a knife i was told shipped that wasnt-
