When is a knife too sharp?

LOL I sharpened one of my wife's kitchen knives without telling her and the first thing she cut was her thumb.

I was dating a girl that carried a little pocket knife. I asked to use it once while we were out and it barely cut anything. So I used mine then told her I was gonna sharpen hers. I returned it to her shaving sharp with a warning. Two days later she called me telling me cut her finger. LOL

A knife that's too sharp? I'd love to have that probleme. Sounds like having too much money or too much women!

Oh, there's definitely such a thing as too much woman:

A knife that is made too sharp by a knifemaker is similar to a gun that is built too accurate by a gunsmith. Whaaaa ???

^ that's not good.

I've thought of something new to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. :D

I didn't think I would be contributing to this thread but the irony of today is just too much not to share.

So, last night I am reading this thread and as I was laughing my way through it the thought came to me to actually apply some of the wisdom shared. Yesterday after dinner I took the time out to sharpen our kitchen knives as they were getting pretty dull. I informed my wife of what I had done so she would know to be careful, didn't work, first think this morning she nipped off a flap of skin from the very tip of her thumb. She never even knew she did it until the blood started to flow. So much for giving a warning

Knives CAN be too sharp for ignorant people.... and some local fisherman around here. I stopped counting the times that folks have picked up one of my knives and immediately ran their thumb down the edge. I keep a box of tissues next to my "finished" drawer. Bandaids got too expensive. I also sharpen knives for a few local chefs. It amazes me what folks think "sharp" is. I ran a local chef's knife across my throat once for dramatics. It was so dull I could see my reflection in the apex. The same chef used his blades on stainless steel counter tops..... guhh.

I'm doing my best to educate but, dang...

Somebody once "borrowed" an knife of mine without asking me
When I got it back he showed me the cut in his indexfinger. "But that was realy sharp!"
