When is an axe better than a gun for Home Defense?

Hey, I just put this image in Photobucket, and I put it in as a 800 x 600, yet it shows on my screen as a 1024 x 768 image...
Why?

When is an axe better than a gun for home defence?

When your house is attacked by a gang of pine trees.
When you have kids in the next room , live somewhere guns are not allowed and in very close quarters , when you don't want muzzleflash to ruin your night vision or gunshots to give away your position.

At close quarters guns are no better than knives or axes and entrenching tools.
WW1 trench warfare is proof for all the people who are enamored with handguns from american TV.

When is an ax better for defense than a gun? This is a no-brainer......

When you have an ax in your hand, and not a gun!!!!!!!!!!!

Old Proverb: Ax in hand worth many pistol in bush..........

Semper Fi!

A small hatchet is fine if that is what one has.

On the creative side, a high pressure washer with the spray on concentrate would probably be quite good, not much noise, just a bit water here and there and the assailant nicely cut to pieces.

Well, I think this is really a trick question. If I had to choose between a shotgun or an axe, I'd take the axe, unless, that is unless I get some shotgun shells with this shotgun. I've never tried to beat anyone with the butt of a shotgun, but I believe an axe would be slightly more effient.

<<Old Proverb: Ax in hand worth many pistol in bush..........>>

Also, don't forget:

"People in glass houses don't use shotgun, they use axes."

Honestly though, this goes back to the very basic idea of what to bring to a gun fight. Don't bring anything other than a gun. Sure, axes are much cheaper, and sure an axe might be a good start but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is more effective than a shotgun at these ranges. Shotguns alsmost automatically trump all rifles and virtually all pistols for in-the-home confrontation.
Many people can argue that a shotgun racking will scare even professional burglars, but honestly, professional burglars always know when you will be on vacation, moving, or when you aren't home. So moral of the story, use a shotgun, OR we can get into the worlds largest never ending debate over which shotsize to use. I use 00 buck, how about you?

cops are taught an attacker with a knife drawn within 20 paces of them with thier gun holstered- they are DEAD. HERE IS THE THING THAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF... If I am a legal gun owner (which i am) and you shoot someone in self defence or the defence of someone else whose life is in danger... THEY TAKE YOUR GUN AS EVIDENCE. F!@# THAT!
then it gets to sit in an evidence locker until its rusted tight and they know you can't use it anymore and give it back.

That is a stupid situation. If you have good taste and spent a shitload of cash on a custom or quality gun then it'll be scrap metal by the time it does its stint in the evidence box...

I suppose a crappy gun that you don't mind it being rusted would be the less heart wrenching option. Kinda makes one think why they couldn't give some thought and better maintain the guns in proper environment? They can't deny that intricate engineering will be damaged and it isn't your fault!

I worked in the county crime lab in our city (population in excess of 200,000), and the guns, knives, brass knuckles (yes, even those) were kept in an environment not unlike a typical office building. The actual storage area was a vault, like at a bank. The biggest worry of a weapon that is taken as evidence is that they cannot trace it to you if you didn't go through the proper channels to get ownership in the first place...

If the model is OK for Police work (including undercover), it can end up on an officer. But understand that at departments like the one I worked at, there is a lot of paperwork, and the disposition of the wepon is handled carefully to avoid legal issues... regardless of what you might think. Of course, not all crime labs are maybe as honest? Or they may not be as well monitored?

By the way, here is the shotgun picture from earlier, but posted the right way...

I know, it's off topic, sort of...

You do what is right by your family. 'They' break-in and pose a risk to you and your family and may destroy all you worked hard for... I say the world is a better place without scum like that so blast away.

If i'm not so worried about damaging my house (or if guns were legal in Malaysia) I would go for holding two uzis with two glocks in side holsters and a Busse Megalodon battle axe for dessert. With the full wrath I will empty my clips and make sure to set an example for any scum who dares to harm others. Work for a F#%king living. God gave them equal chances and everyone has 24hrs in a day so what's the problem?

Seriously I do not like the idea of taking a life. Any ideas on 100% workable take-downs which are not lethal yet pose no risk to me or my family???
Seriousely, read that last paragraph. Do you know anything in this life that qualifies as 100% "workable" in a self defense/home invasion situation? With possable multiple attackers? Lets come back to reality, now, and be seriouse. With all due respect.

I mean, I own several 'less than lethal' weapons, but in a home-invasion scenario...

I will inflict the most severe damage possible in the shortest amount of time possible, and if they outnumber me, it won't matter...

You have to be willing to have a warrior mindset... like my friend who was a Green Beret says...

"Rip their eyes out, and slit their throats, if need be..."

If you want to get into my house, you can walk through the front door anytime, life is too short to plan these things.

I know I'm like asking for the impossible but it can't hurt to ask can it. And I'm being serious cause if I was joking I would say 'har har' or maybe 'knock knock'. Maybe the assumed foolishness of my statement warrants it being considered a joke but didn't all great achievements (like going to the moon or sailing around the world) started out with a then 'foolish' dream/hope/desire?

Each man/woman to his/her own opinions... with all due respect.

Cotherion...

You make a good point...

My response was, after all, just MY opinion...

You, sir, are definitely entitled to your opinion equally to everyone else here...

Sometimes we just get a little intense, I guess...

Yes, my reaction to Rick Oshay's opinion is to be defensive of my earlier points. My request for...

"Seriously I do not like the idea of taking a life. Any ideas on 100% workable take-downs which are not lethal yet pose no risk to me or my family???" (Taken from earlier post)

Is impossible (for now) but what I have learnt from my life so far is that nothing is impossible. As long as there is a will then there will be a way. Technological advancements/achievements make the impossible possible with the possible exceptions of the impossible impossibles (trying for a tongue twist but ratehr bad. will stop).

Yo Glock17JHP thanks for agreeing with me. I unconditionally love all who agree with me (so I said to wife). Hope you didn't think I was talking bout you earlier cause i wasn't. I got no beef with ya cause you ain't confrontational most of the time.

Let's all keep the ideas flowing and the discussions alive so that our descendents will have better and better tools of destruction and mayhem! THAT was a joke... Not really funny in retrospec...
