Hoback now admitted they source parts from out of country

Sorry for the small text, but it's what the company posted.

My immediate thought is what a scummy thing to do in all of your advertising using the claim USA made (sorry missing 100 percent mind you), when it's really more like USA assembled. With the prices that go on a Hoback I can't believe quality US parts were just impossible to find.

Feels like......lying......I have none and won't but one now.

But Hoback I know is by far not the only one.......qtrmst.....

I've owned several Hobacks and loved them. Badass knives but I 100% thought they were USA Made. Same as everyone else it seems because USAMade blade sayed they will no longer carry them and Blade HQ says USA Made on every knife. It feels like people were intentionally misled.

I'll never own another one.

I think if people think “made in USA” means 100% all parts made in USA, they’re going to have a bad time.

The FTC requires only “more than 50%” for companies to make the claim. If in fact every single part was USA made, people would be complaining about the cost instead.

You're correct, and in the knife industry how is one to track down to the screws where they are made?

I am a little discouraged about the part where they said they wouldn't talk about where things were made.....just focus on knife here! 😀

They did the same thing with Springfield 1911 pistols. Raw forgings were sent to Springfield Armory in Genoseo, IL from IMBEL in Brazil. However, IMBEL makes quality stuff. More than 50% of the work was finished in Illinois, hence the “Made is USA” claim. Great 1911, though.

Interesting, I recently snagged a hoback just to support a local brick and mortar. I've had a hoback a15 in the past. I always thought they were USA made. Bummer.

Kinda makes sense given some of the materials used in their knives.

Yeah,...but mine are stamped

Made in Brazil - Imbel

Right under USA

Or after we look into most companies saying made in America are we gonna find the same thing?

There's only one company I can think of that advertises 100% parts Made in the USA. Maybe that's gonna be the next trend?

I'm honestly torn on this.

Since I don't own one I just wanted to ask what materials do you mean?

Buck bantams, the handles aren't made in usa, but blade, heat treat and assembly are, if my memory serves me right.

Mine is not, some of the their 1911’s are made entirely in Brazil, some are raw forgings sent to the US to have more than half the work finished.
Interesting, so mine was more made in Brazil than yours! 😃

Mine is a milspec, always liked it, sold off a range master as I didn't care for the adjustable sights.

Yea, it’s pretty weird that they did it that way. The beginning letters of the serial # designate where it was finished. N is made entirely in Brazil, NM means finished in USA.

I seem to remember a video of him in his shop apparently showing his knives being made, which is what led me to believe he makes his stuff. This was maybe 5 years ago when I had the a15 so can't remember everything.
