  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

When was the last time that you NEEDED one hand opening?

In our office almost all network cabling is in the ceiling space ... up on the ladder when I need to cut a cable (tie) I really appreciate to be able to support myself with one hand.
Otherwise looking for wiring problems in the dark space under the desks when I need my other hand to hold my flashlight.

But THE single most important reason:
So that I can play with my Flippers when reading ony my Kindle, holding it with the other hand :D

When I'm turned upside-down working under a dash I usually have one hand/arm I can't use cuz it's pinned, so one-handed is very important to me :)

Constantly. Up a ladder, holding cabling or fiber in one hand while popping zip-ties or cutting through insulation while trying to guide a glow rod through a crawlspace. It happens.

January of last year, I was in a car accident that shattered my left wrist. I could barely one-hand open my wallet.

I'd rather not talk about it.

I can t remember a time I had to use one hand, but I always use just one .

Let's see...

- When a rope with weights on the other end became tangled around my left wrist, cutting off circulation and beginning to cut skin. (Stage work can be dangerous when you're working in an old, poorly-designed theater)

It can still be dangerous in a brand new, well designed space. I consider a good, well maintained knife an important piece of safety equipment.

All the time. Ladder work, under a car, or if im holding the item to be cut. The list can go on forever. But 50% of the time. One hand opening makes life alot safer and easier.

Pretty much anytime I have something I want to cut in my other hand...envelopes, packages, bags, a loose thread on a shirt, ivy in the yard, etc., etc, etc. This is an interesting thread...but really, I think you need a one-handed opener anytime your other hand isn't available for one reason or another. I don't think there's any mystery to it.

I don't mind a 2 handed close (e.g. mid back lock), but I surely love a 1 handed open. Like a poster mentioned above, I think the benefits and usefulness of such are self-evident.

All the time.

In my walk in freezer I'm often holding something and need to open many boxes and would be a nuisance to require 2 hands everytime to open a blade.

I have sebenzas for that, but found a southard excellent for work.
