When you drop a safe queen... on concrete...

Yep. Not feeling too great at the moment. Tripped over my own feet in my driveway carrying one of my safe queens. It fell blade first on the concrete and proceeded to tumble around violently for what seemed like hours... I swear I could hear it screaming. Maybe that was me. I'm going to keep the make/model and cost to myself. It's definitely a user now. I'm sure some of you will laugh, some will lecture, and some will share my pain. I'll admit it would make me feel slightly better to know I'm not the only member to have done something this shameful.

Sincerely

I don't have safe queens. If I own it I use it. With that said it sure as heck does not mean I want them tumbling across concrete. Safe queen or just a nice knife that is a user, I feel your pain. Hopefully the damage is minimal and you will be happier now because you will use it and discover how awesome it really is! Trying to find a bright side for you;)

Don't sweat it man, you might find it's the best thing you did since you now get to use what you'd only usually let sit in a dark drawer and admire on weekends. You should post pics, makes for a more interesting story. Scratches, scars and use make knives look better.

I don't keep safe queens. It is a personal thing, I guess. If I don't use it, I sell it or not buy it to begin with.

That being said, most of the knives that I have seen that I would consider "safe queens" are often considered higher end knives made by Very talented makers. Due to this, the knife will often be thought to perform Very Well, now you get to find out.

I would say what it was, if for no other reason than for folks to know that there is an actual "User" Loveless City Knife (or whatever it is) out there earning it's keep. As a knife knut, I appreciate the fact that a, possibly, ultra high end knife is going to be pulling it's weight, and it would be nice to know just how well it performs.

Best of luck, now you can enjoy the other side of the coin. Think of it like child birth; it starts with screaming and some pain, but the memories made will be sweet and last a lifetime.

Edited for grammatical.

Better than a brand new rifle slipping out the case landing front blade sight first. That'll affect functionality a little

You've been freed!

I do hope you share what sort of knife it was. Can we guess? I'll start:

Was it a hand-forged fixed blade knife?

I feel for you. I also don't believe in safe queens except for gold and silver bullion.
Mine are users as well and once you (if you plan to) use this one, you will admire it that much more IMHO.

I feel for you also I am like whitty and use my knives but the time I dropped my protech tr5 tip down onto a ceramic tile floor and saw the tip break I was upset but protech rebladed it for a small fee and I was once again happy.

I avoid dropping my knives but the only reason I would be mad at myself for dropping a knife is if the tip of the blade or cutting edge was damaged. If it gets scratched that's ok because it's a tool for cutting things.

I don't collect "pretty boy knives"/"safe queens"

Hi! Even though I don’t have any safe queen and my knives are production items really not that expensive, I feel your pain :). I have dropped on the concrete floor my brand new Officer, a knife I really "courted" for a long time and for which I was saving up for months. Fortunately it was closed but it got a good chip in the G10 scale :(. After I have thrown more than a few words kids shouldn’t hear, :D I put the baby to work. Still with me, it’s having its place in my weekly rotation. Great knife . As other said, think positive, you got a new user :)!
