When you first came to BladeForums, what were the knives you were most interested in?

This was my first fix:

I saw an add in the corner of a gun mag with a knife that had a butterfly on it. Did a lilttle "googling" and learned about Benchmade. I mentioned to my Dad about them and he said how awesome they were(he hunts and fish etc...) That was three yrs ago..

Now i realize how just ok they are...

Did i mention i have a Sebenza on order from CRK?

lets see, when I first came aboard the madness here at BF.. It was Spyderco, Kershaw and RAT (back then).. and really nothings changed, except I found out (again) about Becker knives as they're here on the forums and also HI..

OH, almost forgot, this place help me sell some old slippys, and got me appreciating Buck again..:thumbup:

I too used to shoot alot then the prices of ammo went sky high a couple years ago and I've been more into my blades then ever before...

this place is still my favorite forum of all time:)

Slipjoints. Since I was old enough to go outside by myself. :)
Tough neighborhood -- if you didn't have a knife for mumblypeg, you were nothing.

Electricians knife and Swiss Army Knives, and a Mercator K55 when I was in high school and college.

Grew up, got a couple of Cold Steels, because that's what the stores carried. Best knife: Gerber Bolt-Action. A lot of variety, though. Mostly small folders.

When I moved out here, I was spending more time on the internet, found Bladeforums, noticed Ken C. lived in this town. We have been bad influences on each other, buying too many knives to show off. :D

Actually, what brought me to BladeForums was Google. I was searching for info on knife blade steels and found a ton of info was coming from this forum. Soon I started reading other things on here and got hooked. Fixed blade hunter/skinners and traditional folders have always been my mainstay, but I enjoy one-hand openers too.

I'm a noob who came here looking for decent info on the Dpx HEST folder and ended up with my first Busse (Sar-6). About a year ago, I "lost" my Victorinox camp companion or such, bought an endura4 spydie edged... 5 keeper-replacements later and I still haven't found the right office friendly edc.

Found Bladeforums on a search for info about the Busse Basic series, after reading an article about them in a knife mag.

I was a Cold Steel & Spyderoco guy. I've since changed but have nothing bad to say about the two companies.

I went a searchin' and found my first post

Apparently I was looking for some info on Ka-Bar

Back in 04' I was pretty much a CRKT person, but was venturing out. Soon after I got a way from CRKT and stuck with Kershaw for 90% of all my knife purchases. Just recently I've gotten into Spyderco. I dipped my toe in the Benchmade waters, but quickly pulled it back out to swim in water more suited to my taste. I doubt I'll be going back to that swimming hole again.

Sadly I was into "tacti-cool/mall ninja" knives. I LOVED AO knives and everything black!

Now I don't care for AO knives, prefer stonewashed finishes and go for function over "tacti-cool." But I still get some tacti-cool knives every so often...

Years ago when I was in school I saw a picture of a knife that at the time I absolutely could not afford, I filed it away in the back of my mind knowing that as soon as I had the money I would get it. After a few years I finally had the money to go find it and do research and make sure I still wanted it. I found this place and the esee forum about a year ago and finally bought a esee3 after wanting one for about two years :D

I've mostly been a lurker but recently joined and started posting :)

My first ever knives were licensed movie replicas, I'm still a movie memorabilia collector.

But my interest in real knives didn't catch up untill last year, after I signed that enlistment contract with Army...

I decided it's time to get me some blades that suit my new trade so I head-dove into tactical customs and it got REAL expensive REAL fast...
then I down-graded to manufactures like CRK and Striders and now I'm pretty much open to any well made production knives...

However I still need to satisfy my over-fed appetite by buying customs everytime the bug bites hard.

Oh god, i was about 13 and that makes me a mall ninja by default :)

Now tho im in my early 20's and i have a wide ranging collection from the most tactical of tactical fixed blades the gil hibben throwing knife ;) to real tactical knives to to sebbie to slip joint and a little kiridashi i made myself because thats the extent of my knife making abilities :)

I originally jointed bladeforums because I was interested in balisongs.

Nowadays, I'm a bit frustrated with them. For me (big emphasis on the "for me" part), they are too expensive for what are essentially toy knives that will never see carry or use.

I'm more interested in friendly and easy to carry knives. I like traditional slipjoints and SAK's, and modern locking folders if they are handsome. My collection is absolutely minimal since my budget is minimal, and my SAK and Klein EDC folding knife currently meet my needs.
