• Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all of you! Thanks for your continued support and I hope that your holiday season is a blessed one.

Where are your blades when you're not carrying?

OK, OK here's where I keep mine:

Now I have to kill you all.

I have the set-up on the right, plus I had Gerstner make me a matching table for the chest and the base to sit on. The advantage of this is all your knives can lay open in a rust free environment, it locks up, (anti wife, anti kid) it has room for all your sheaths and sharpening stuff too, and well it just looks great. A fitting tool chest for your favorite tools.

Users are all over the place - been considering a neck knife for Gretta (12yr old lab). The good stuff and firearms are in a safe. Insurance riders specifically for "cutlery" and in house and in route to and from exhibitions are something to check on. Mine are with State Farm in the U.S. and the price is reasonable. (Under 40.00 a year)

The winner is....Lucky Dog! Man, you ARE a Lucky Dog to have that awesome set-up. And kudos to you for getting the chest instead of the matched pair of Sebenzas that must have been tempting you as you wrote the check! You're a strong willed hombre!

Cardboard box in the closet. A thief will be too busy with all the other distractions to even notice them.

Yeah well I have one Large Sebenza that's usually my daily user. My interests lie in the Microtech OTF arena. This set-up costs about 2K, so I could have had more then a matched pair Sebenza. But I look at it this way, my collection is worth a lot more then that and it deserves a fitting place to reside.

These chests don't go down in value, they go up; their of heirloom quality. I wish I had a son to pass my collection on too. Have to wait for a grandson, and then hook him on knives, with my daughter, I'll have my work cut out for me.

My best ones are in the fire-resistant gun safe, which is in the den covered by the POE's and PIR sensors, two dogs, a loaded .45 and MY WIFE. Take your pick.
I also have some in the bathroom, bedroom, closet, truck ...
