Hey guys,

I'm in the part of life where I have to start thinking about where I want to go to college, and I was hoping to broaden my horizon a bit

I'm thinking about LSU, dad went there and my brother goes there. Mom didn't go to college.

Where did you guys go to college if any?

Never went. Went to work summer after 10th grade. Finished high school at home nights and weekends. Wrote my first business plan when I was 18. Been working for myself ever since. But I do a few business conferences every year to see if I can pick up an idea for the companies.

I'll never be done :(. I'm at Lone Star College right now and hoping to transfer to Tarleton University next semester. I'm going for my BSN.

i went to the university of oklahoma.

think my daughter is going to go to texas womens university.

Started at Milwaukee School of Engineering for a Bio-Medical Electrical Engineering. Half way through financial issues forced me to finish with an Electronic Tech degree from a two year technical school. For good (and bad) I have owned Computer Consulting businesses for the last 15 years. During that time I pretty much worked 24/7, now trying to enjoy life and the outdoors more.

Ogden, Utah Weber Applied Technology Center.
CNC Machining and Conventional Certificate......

Going to a local community college now, transferring to Western Illinois University in the fall.

S.S.C. - Seldom Strait College as it's affectionately known (Salem State, Salem MA)

2 years at Va Tech in Electrical Engineering the dropped out due to finances. Started back to school 10 years later while in the Air Force. Finished Industrial Engineering degree from Southern Illinois Univ. while on active duty.

I'm doing a mechanical engineering/materials science double major at UC Irvine right now. I chose it because the CA state schools are great, but not too expensive to go to. Plus it's close to home.

What school is right for you depends on a lot of things, but keep in mind that the big names aren't as important as a lot of people say they are. They usually just cost a lot more. You can get a great education at a lesser known school, and statistics seem to confirm this. If you look at some of the most successful people today, most of them didn't go to ivy leagues; they relied on their ability rather than their school.

Since you're in Texas, see if you can score high enough on the PSAT to get national merit. Texas A&M will give you a full ride if you do.

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania--the have a great outdoor adventure program called Quest that teaches everything from mountain climbing, to ice climbing, to wilderness first aid. They have several outings each month.

Two years at Penn State, three Years at California University of Pennsylvania. History degree, Psychology and Sociology minor. Planned on being a history teacher but it didn't pan out (too poor) as I'd have had to go another year to get certified. Plus, I don't think I wanna deal with whiny teenagers.
