Where do you keep your EDC's? Do they make a display box anywhere?

I've got six or seven EDC's and I just keep them in a felt bag on my dresser. What do you guys do? I'd prefer to see them all at once so I can choose which to carry on any given day rather than inside a sack.

Any ideas are welcomed.

I keep mine in a men's dresser valet on my nite stand. Keeps them separated nicely in a velvet lined drawer.

Try Googling up some mineral/gem/rock display cases....find the ones around 14"x17" and go from there. There are some pretty good ones out there for knife display. I use a few of them. As with anything there are good ones and better ones.

I also use vintage wood cigar/wine boxes that I line with Elvis velvet.

Also check out the Plano tackle-type storage boxes. I use Plano Gun Guard convoluted foam cases in two sizes.

All kinds of good ways to do it out there....

I usually just carry my favorite...as long as it is my favorite...Can be years.
Any others have to wait their turn.

I keep most of them in a Case-Gard Sportsman's case. Factory boxes underneath and the unboxed stuff on top on the foam fingers. I usually have 1-4 lined up on the shelf near my keys, wallet, etc... and I grab one and go. Right now there's just a ZT 0566 BWCF up there.

I need to figure out what to do next though, because it is full. Not too fancy, but it holds quite a few folders. I will probably just buy another. It is a nice heavy duty case for an MTM. I can't think of any other MTM product that I like.

What I do own I keep in a cool little black cigar box next to my desk. As far as my daily carries I keep on what appears to be a cool little place mat from Pier One on my desk. Its green with little wood dowels. I also keep my wallet, sunglasses and other trinket carries there too. I see some people using Pelican cases. Its cool and all but I tend to think its overkill, might as well keep them in a bolted down safe at that rate.

I set them all about in any old place.

Me too. Maybe that is the reason that I can't find some of them.

If you want a nice lined tray to place your knives in, consider this. The next time you are having an eye exam, ask your doctor or optician about one of the fancy display trays they use to showcase different brands of eyeglass frames. You may be able to score one for a brand they no longer carry. I just brought one home from work and it should work great (still in the car).

You can also order them from any good optical supply house. Some of them are very sharp looking. Wood trays with leather, suede or fabric lining. Should hold about 5 or 6 pairs of glasses. Another option is the plain plastic dispensing tray used in the lab. It will work but it will not be pretty.

I've got 3 steady EDCs. I leave each on their matching pair of clothing. Work (LEO) I carry an Atrox by our very own Bill Keonig, causal everyday, Spyderco Southard. And when I'm headed to the swamp Cold steel Voyager.....and the Southard.

I "store" mine in the pocket of the pants I wore the night before. If I want to carry a different one that one goes in the drawer and another one comes out. (Only to be left in the pants I wore that night before)

Pelican 1300. Deep enough for most folding knives, can be pad locked to keep tiny fingers away. I keep desiccant packs in mine to help control humidity (gotta love the south). Room for 36 knives in this configuration. Fits a ZT0560 vertically.

Keeping the foam you remove, trimming it and stuffing it back in the cavity works well to keep shorter knives from sinking to the bottom of the case.

Gerstner makes some nice cases suitable for displays or easy access, but they cost what a couple of really nice knives would cost.

I believe his point is that it's not really an "EDC" if it spends its time sitting in a box. ;)

Yeah, I know. :)

But you know what? I'm hearing so much squabble and conflict around here in regard to the term "every day carry/EDC" I'm about to start a thread:

Some think of "every day" as literal---if it isn't in your pocket every consecutive day with no skips it isn't an EDC.

Others, myself included, see it as "everyday," meaning nothing more than 'commonplace' (i.e. commonly carried) or 'usual' (carried frequently), more a description of a knife itself than frequency of carry.

It's entirely viable to have a group of knives one carries the most, or at least often, and refer to them as EDC's.

Is that really so hard to grasp?
