Where do you keep your knives?

Knives I often carry are kept in their original boxes (if I still have them) in a drawer or a shelf of a built-in cabinet. Knives I don't carry often are, again, kept in original boxes or loose in ammo boxes in a steel gun cabinet (I can't afford a real gun safe because I've spent all my money on knives).

Drawers, boxes under the bed, bags hanging in the closet, small jewelry type boxes on top of furniture - I think that's it.

this is exactly what I use, I have the same box!

we rock!

I keep my knives in Rubber Maid tubs for storage where I seldom look at them. I keep the ones that I am likely to look at or use in plastic boxes I pick up at Office Depot. I can usually fit most of the knives of one brand into one box stored inside the factory tube or box. They stack easily on a closet shelf or on a dresser or chest. The ones that I use, are generally in my pocket, lying on my computer desk, or on a book shelf in my "office". I keep my backup SAKs inside my ammunition cabinet, but they could just as easily be inside one of my really useful brand plastic boxes.

I like the tool chest approach, but I usually store new knives inside their factory box and they are not for display.

Now everyone on the internet knows where/what you keep your knives in... ;)

:D

Mine are locked in a timed vault, under armed guard, in a secret room, that's boobytrapped with explosives, and surrounded by a moat of saltwater crocs.

I want something like that, but I need it to be long enough to store my hawks, machetes, and choppers too. I want everything tucked away nice and safe in case younger family comes to visit. Haven't been able to find a smaller tool chest with a drawer length of 26"-30". When they say 26", they usually mean the width from side to side, not just the drawer.

There are larger Craftsman chests available, and some have deeper drawers necessary for larger boxed knives. I use the stackable 26" chests for traditional pocketknives and most folders, and a large 42" workbench-style cabinet for larger knives.

No one's going to stroll down the street with this:

And the table top is nice to have too.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find any that were wider and also of the 5 or less drawer variety. I want to display mine exactly like his, lying on one side. I have an 18" machete that comes to about 26" total, and a hawk about the same length. I haven't found anything besides the rolling chests that would accommodate those two. Everything else seems to fit. I might be SOL, haha.

I've posted this pic many times before, but this is what my stash looked like before I got the Sears tool chest. A big plastic bin full of knives.

I wish I could find one of those arcade "claw" machines that looked like that, I'd blow a paycheck pumping quarters in it!

Mine is slightly different than the one in the photo. Same width (42") but a different drawer configuration. When I need a Craftsman check I generally just select from whatever's on sale and/or has free shipping. ;)

The top chests come in wider sizes. Just quickly browsing I see 40", 42", 54", and even 56".

Look up model 113841. Two rows of drawers and one large top compartment, 40" total width. Good variety of drawer heights and widths. Not terribly expensive, and pick it up for free at your closest Sears store.

I really need to organize my collection. Right now, most of it is sitting in various boxes in my closet, because I have neither the room to display them, or anything decent to store them in. I really like the toolbox idea.

I put my scandi knives in aluminiun brief cases and some knives are plastic storage boxes. Sometimes I would like to hang them on the wall that I could enjoy them every day. Those storage boxes feels so cold place for them but it´s easy way to storage for them.

Harbor Freight sells tool chests that are as big as Sears for a lot less money and if all your putting in them is knives they'll last forever. My buddy has the biggest box they make and he uses it as a mechanic's tool box.

Apparently they are quite a bit cheaper. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and get a chest that is larger vertically to accommodate all my stuff. Thank you for reminding me about HF.

Locked gun safe. And a few beater knives and a couple of my current EDC knives are in my desk drawer. My desk also contains all of my sharpening gear.
